Chapter 17

Roman just walks past her and you follow him, not looking at Olivia. Shelley walks behind you two.

"Roman", Olivia says and a man with a shovel, walks beside her.

Roman turns around and Olivia says:

"We have a guest. Uh, Shelley darling. Would you go up to your room? And you too , Olivia says and glares at you.

You are already leaving to your room, but Roman grabs your hand.

"No, she can stay", Roman says to Olivia and pulls you next to him.

Olivia looks at you and rolls her eyes.

"What's the problem?", Roman asks.

"Franklin Hernandez", the man with a shovel says.

Roman shurgs and shakes his head, because he doesn't know who is he talking about.

"Go on, officer", Olivia says to the man.

"He apparently is police or something close to that", you think and hope, that Roman is not in a big trouble.

"It appears some deviants and by some I mean two, given the footprints we found got down and dirty at the cemetery last night", officer says.

At this point you are sure they were Roman's and Peter's footprints and they will get caught.

"Some kind of prank?", Roman asks.

"If you consider digging up Lisa Willoughby's corpse and gutting her like a fish, yes I guess it was a prank", officer says loudly.

"So, who's Hernandez, is he suspect or...?", Roman starts asking.

"He is our gardener", Olivia says very clearly.

"Who's been in the hospital, last three weeks", officer says.

Roman looks like he's about to say something, but officer shows a shovel to him and there is a tape, and it reads F. Hernandez.

"We retrieved this from the hole. Any idea how a shovel from your property wound up near an open grave? ", officer says.

"Roman? ", Olivia asks with a crocky voice.

You look at Roman. Your heart is beating so fast and you are in panic. If Roman gets caught of the digging, he would get some punishment and maybe go to jail. What would happen then?

"Maybe somebody stole it?", Roman says and smirks.

"Stole your gardener's shovel. This shovel?", officer says and punchs the floor with the shovel.

"Yeah", Roman smiles.

"Well, in case your interested, there is a 10,000$ reward", officer says.

"Which I've just offered to double", Olivia says and seems frustrated.

"Yeah. Like I said, you know...", Roman says and bites his dowlip.

"Ok. Thank you for your help, Mrs. Godfrey", officer says.

"My pleasure", Olivia says and smiles.

"I will be seeing you around kid", officer says and while he walks, he pulls the shovel along the floor and it makes terrible noice. He pushes Roman out of his way, when he walks past him.

Roman laughs and looks at you smiling. You just roll your eyes. He is about to go upstairs with you but before he can go Olivia says:

"You did this. You and that gupsy scum, choosing a moment, you knew would hurt me the most", Olivia says.

"What?", Roman asks confused and turns to face her.

You are standing on the first stair looking at them.

"Tomorrow's gala for you father. Don't pretend you've forgotten", Olivia says.

"Jesus", Roman sighs.

"Do you hate me so much, that you would risk this family's public humiliation?", Olivia asks loudly.

"What if I told you that what I'm doing is important?", Roman says.

Then Olivia slaps him on the cheek. You jump at that and Roman quickly looks at you, before he continues:

"That it is quite possibly the most important...", Roman stops when Olivia slaps him again.

Roman looks at her into her eyes deeply.

"Be quiet. I can't bear the sound of you", she says.

Roman turns to look away and you look at Olivia horrifed. Roman breaths heavily.

"Another visit from the police and I will collect the reward myself. Nod if you understand", Olivia says.

Roman nods a little.

"Tomorrow, guests arrive at eight. You will be prompt, properly dressed and attentive to our guests. Nod!", Olivia says angrily and Roman nods again.

You are horrifed at Olivia at this point. She seems so angry. Well, she have a right to be angry, but she slapped her son. You just want to run away, but you can't move.

"Now, both of you. Stay out of my sight!", Olivia says and leaves.

Roman turns to you.

"Roman...", you start, but he just walks past of you angrily.

You follow him.

Roman slams the door closed right front of your face. You knock the door.

"Y/N, go away", Roman says.

You sigh and say:

"I'm not going anywhere"

When Roman doesn't answer you slowly open the door. Roman is sitting on his bed, his hands over his face.

"Roman", you say calmly.

He just looks up to you and smirks sadly.

"You know she slapped me too, I know how it feels", you say and sit next to him.

"But she isn't your mother", Roman says, he looks very sad.

"I can hug you, if it helps", you mutter quietly.

"What?", Roman asks and looks at you.

"Well...", you say and then just hug him.

Roman just hugs you back and start shaking a little.

You let him go and look at him. One tear just goes down on his cheek.

"Hey", you say and put your hand on his cheek.

"I just um...", Roman mutters looking down.

"What?", you ask.

Then he just kisses you again.
