- Third Person's pov. -

It had been a month since Yuki was blackmailed into ROOT and was working as a double agent for the Leaf. The entire reason she was forced into ROOT was because all of the members had been identified and they had no inside man. Yuki became that man.

It wasn't the same as her previous undercover work had been. This time she had to lie to everyone she held dear and couldn't tell them what was bugging her. Those around her began to notice something seemed off with her but couldn't get anything out of her; even Shikamaru couldn't get her to spill her guts.

The first week was the easiest as she just said she had a mission and was gone for the entire week, but in reality she was brought to the hideout and was put through training. The second week was harder, she had to keep disappearing to do missions for ROOT, gathering intel on them, or reporting to Tsunade on what she was and wasn't allowed to tell them.

By the third week she had learned the regular shadow clone jutsu and used it when she left the village. By the fourth week, she began to feel paranoid. Even though the curse mark on her tongue had been removed so she could tell everything to Tsunade and Itachi was her 'handler,' keeping her safe in the hostile environment, she couldn't relax for the life of her.

Yuki had been good at lying before, but now it was put to the test every hour, every minuet of each day. So far, the only thing she had learned was the goals of ROOT and who the leader was. It came as a shock to find out Danzo had a kid, but it lessoned when she learned that he had turned the kid into a weapon who now only had one goal in mind: to take over the Leaf before crushing the other nations.

Currently, Yuki was sitting on the heads of previous Kage as she looked down at the village she was trying so desperately to protect. As she looked out, she couldn't help but think of the words her father had told her before her first mission.

+ Flashback +

Yuki was packing her belongings in a scroll before a knock on the door to her room stopped her. Looking towards the door, she saw her father with a worried look in his eyes yet schooled features on his face.

"What are you doing here dad? You're supposed to be in a meeting with the elders." Yuki said before putting the last of her supplies in a scroll before putting them in the pouch on her right hip.

"I wanted to give you a few words of advice before you set off with your team." Hagane replied.

Yuki raised an eyebrow before giving her father her full attention. Hagane wasn't one to give out advice for no reason, he must have known that something was going to happen. She didn't even know what the mission but because her father deemed it best to give her advice slightly worried her.

"FEAR has two meaning Yuki." Hagane says while looking down at Yuki who was no more than 12. "You can either forget everything and run, or you can face everything and rise, the choice is yours."

Yuki nods, bowing her head in gratitude before flying out the window and towards the Hokage tower. It was only an hour later did she find out her first out of village mission was to kidnap a rouge ninja.

The slapping of her cheeks breaks her from her thoughts. Her eyes quickly widen before her back straightens before trying to make sense of her surroundings before spotting a little boy from her clan standing in front of her with his hands on her cheeks.

"Louis, what are you doing out here?" Yuki asked while looking around for any sign of the child's parents. "You know you aren't allowed to leave the compound by yourself until you turn seven."
