My mother had been pregnant for twenty one weeks - which is about five mouths - and still I couldn't make out anything that even remotely looked like a human being on the ultrasound machine's screen ahead of me.  All I could see was a weird bean shaped thing, with short limbs resembling those of a T-Rex and a small bump I guessed was the nose? Yet I loved it with my whole being and like I've never love anything before.

''Can you hear that?'' The obstetrician asked with a wide smile as she raised the volume of the ultrasound machine. Immediately, the hairs on my arms lifted to the ceiling and a militia of chills marched down my spine as the beating, both faint and strong, got louder and louder. It was easily the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. I took my sleeve to wipe the tears in the corners of my eyes that were eager to fall. I knew my sibling would occupy the entireness of my heart as soon as I found out I was having one, though I wasn't aware my heart would require grown to its size as to accommodate all the love overcoming me.

I squeezed tighter the hand my mother had wrapped around mine as they talked about the developments the baby had done and would do. I didn't know who was shaking more, me or her.

''Everything looks okay with the baby, healthy heartbeat, the weight and height are perfect... '' The doctor assured. ''Still don't want to find out the sex?''

''No.'' My mother said firmly at the same time I exclaimed affirmatively. Thomas and I rolled our eyes in unison. ''Only at birth, and don't you two roll your eyes. I didn't know Rita was a girl until the day she was born and I want to experience that same thrill this time around.''

''The pregnant lady has spoken! No reveal today, sorry guys.''

After the appointment, the moral was high and everyone was too happy to spoil the mood between the closed doors of the house. We collectively choose to first, have lunch at a local restaurant and then spend the rest of day at the mall. I hadn't been home since September and we were all was surely trying to make up from the lost time and make the best out of the few hours we had left in family, before I had to head back to LA and focus on finals season. I wasn't coming back until the twentieth of December which was a month from then and a month equals a life time to a mother that's away from her children. - At least that's what she keep telling me whenever I said thirty days passed in the blink of an eye.

Speaking of speed, the first semester had gone by like a tropical storm, wrecking me just the same - someone should have told me that doing what we love can also tire us because I wasn't aware - and I couldn't wait for winter break to be able to lay down without feeling guilty that I could be using that time to keep working on my Acting Fundamentals class's final assignment - My own, written and performed, monologue.

''You've got everything?''

''Mom, I just came for the weekend. I literally just brought a backpack.'' I chuckled closing shut the trunk of my car. One would think they would never trust me with a car in hands again after what I had done to Thomas' but, surprisingly, I had an all black Audi RS5 waiting for me on the driveway when I got home from LA on friday.

''I know but I packed you some food and some more- Thomas? Where's the bag with her food?'' She yelled towards the house even though Thomas was right beside her. Pregnant brain - I read about it.

''In her trunk.'' He laughed and she went to check if he was telling the truth.

''Oh my, I'm still not used to seeing you leave.''

''Awn mommy.'' I pulled her into a tight hug. ''I'll be back before you know it!''
