I never believed the classic speech older people give the youngsters about how life goes by in the blink of an eye, but if college taught me anything was that it really does, and terrifying was the right word to describe how it felt. Maybe that's why older people are so grumpy, after all they must  feel revolted and somewhat betrayed towards the illusion that the time portraits. The illusion that it doesn't pass, that we will always have forever. No. Certain as death time doesn't stop and It's up to us to spend it worthily. Me? I clearly was.

''How late can we show up?'' I whined while making faces at the mirror instead of getting ready. If laziness had a face I was sure It would be mine. If reincarnation is real I was sure I'd be coming back as a slug or a snail. If- okay, you got the idea.

''Considering our boyfriends are playing, I'd say not at all.'' Lara Jean chuckled throwing an old sock my way.

''I'm not dating a player!'' I smirked at my words.

''Well but I am.''

''Weird flex but alright.''

That day marked the beginning of the lacrosse season. The school's spirit was at its peak and yet I wasn't infected. I couldn't care less about sports. If half my friends weren't part of the team I'd have stayed right there in the dorm, cuddling the Athena and watching The Office on demand.

My moral was as low as it could get. I was going to see Peter and I hadn't seen or talked to him since my birthday mostly because I kept avoiding any situation where I could. Looking at his face reminded me that he didn't care anymore. I didn't want to live in a world were we weren't even friends and I didn't want to face the cold truth we couldn't for our own well being.

I got dressed fairly quickly and for the first time in a while I decided to put on a pair of Nike air force instead of heels, just to avoid spending the entire night crying desperately in pain on the within. I thought It would be sort of cute to, beyond wearing Leo's varsity jackets across my shoulders, paint on each cheek his player number with the school's colours. I remembered what I had heard the first day - The blue corresponded to the sea and sky and the gold yellow reminisced to the sun and wildflowers of the radiant state of California. The more you know.

''You look so cute!'' Eva wailed clapping as we met at the lobby. She had a girl with her and I instantly realised where she had been the entire day.

''I am cute.'' I smirked.

''I wouldn't bet on that.'' She teased swerving my fist. ''Guys, this is Ally. She's my friend-''

''We're dating.'' Ally interrupted, flashing me and Lara Jean her perfectly straight smile. I saw Eva blush slightly before I congratulated her and her cheeks turned darker.

''Everyone's got a girlfriend or a boyfriend now!'' I pouted pretending I was mad at my friends for choosing to be happy instead of a mess like me.

''Wait- Aren't you dating Leonard? Isn't she-'' Ally began confusingly before Eva elbowed her right in the ribs. ''Ouch!''

''No.'' I smiled sympathetically and her frown instantly stretched. ''We're just taking things slow. You know let the tide take us with it...''

As we walked to the lacrosse stadium Eva kept going on about how she had dreamt with her quizzes' answers and although it was quite incredible and impressive, my mind couldn't focus elsewhere but how the dynamic between me and Peter would be once we'd see each other. Sure I could skip on the party at the frat after the game, but I didn't want to lose an opportunity to have fun with my friends.

''Jesus Christ! I wasn't expecting this many people.'' Lara Jean said wandered as we reached the fields stadium like benches.

''This is UCLA baby! Eva laughed over the deafening cheering. ''C'mon, we got seats at the first row!''
