it turned colder

Friday went by in the blink of an eye. My Movement and Combat class got cancelled, so I pretty much spent the entire day in bed, wrapped like a burrito and avoiding the outer world.

The Office kept streaming nonstop in the laptop beside my head, even though I wasn't paying it the deserved attention. My mind was lost elsewhere and it was one of those days where I just wish I wasn't gifted with the ability to think, mostly because I abuse it and over use it.

''You haven't moved all day?'' Lara Jean gasped as soon as she stepped inside the room's darkness. I made sure not a single sun ray could shine inside by closing shut the blinds and the black haired girl didn't seem to happy to arrive and encounter such scenario. ''Rita, for the love of God!'' She whined opening the blinds in a quick motion and almost blinding me permanently.

''No!'' I groaned loudly, sounding like a mixture of a baby bear and a cat during mating season. ''Close it! I need darkness!''

''Look babe, I get that you're going trough a lot but isolating yourself isn't how you're gonna feel better!'' She said softly, sitting back into Eva's single bed and eyeing me with worry.

''I feel fine!'' I grumpily muttered between my teeth. ''Plus I wasn't alone! Athena's here!'' I pointed at the black cat, sleeping peacefully over the window parapet, her favorite place.

Lara Jean threw me a disapproving look before pushing back my comforter, leaving me cold and exposed to all that was harm. I knew I wasn't going to win my own battle, I had friends who cared too much.

''Okay, okay!'' I sat up, stretching and rubbing my tired and heavy eyes. ''What's up?''

''There's a party at Leo's frat tonight!'' She wiggled her eyebrows.

''Nope. Absolutely not.'' I shook my head, wrapping myself into a cocoon of blankets. ''Alec's gonna be there.''

''No he's not.'' Lara Jean informed and my attention was back on her. ''Leo told me he left town for the weekend.''

I wondered if it had anything to do with the fact it was my birthday weekend.

''Still... Not in the mood.''

''Rita!'' Lara Jean exclaimed loudly with a demanding tone that didn't belong to her tiny body. ''Let me make myself clear. We are going out tonight!''

''Only if you drag me out.'' I mumbled arrogantly.

''Yeah, don't try me because I wouldn't mind.'' She warned, sending me a warning look over her shoulder as she ruffled trough my closet.

''Since when did we switched mindsets?'' I asked honestly, jumping down the bunk bed.

''Since we let boys change us.'' She shrugged. ''Shit-sorry.''

''It's okay. It's true, they made me weak.'' I gave her a smile, showing her It was indeed okay.

It was okay because even though I wanted nothing more than to deny it, both Peter and Alec changed me. They turned me soft, they turned me into a weak walking sorrow. I felt sorry for myself in ways I'd never before and yet, anger surpassed it all because...how could I let a couple of boys change me so much?

''Weak?'' Lara Jean snorted caughting me out of surprise. ''You're a lot of things..stubborn, impulsive, lazy....''

''Okay! I get it.'' I laughed trying not to feel too attacked.

''My point is, you're anything but weak, okay? So don't even say that.'' She pocked my nose. ''If anything they did you a favor.'' She smirked and I furrowed my eyebrows because what the hell? ''I mean now you know which type of boy not to fall for!''
