Cake by the ocean

"We're going to the beach today, want to come with?" Maddie asks me over the phone
"Sure just let me get ready" I say
"We're leaving around nine so we'll have time to come back and get ready for the engagement party after" She says
"Sounds like a good plan. Maybe I'll pack mine and Rosie's dresses and get ready over your house" I say
"Sounds good" She says before hanging up
I go in Rosie's closet while she's sleeping and take out her leopard print bathing suit and the dress I bought her for the party tonight. Then I go in my bedroom and take out my black bikini as wells as my dress for tonight. I pack a clothes bag and put our dresses and shoes in it. I don't bother packing a curling iron or any makeup since Maddie has all of that at their house. I pack a different bag with towels, sunscreen, and tanning lotion.
I put on my bikini and a white flowy romper bathing suit cover.

I put on some white flip flops and then walk to Rosie's room. I wake her up and she smiles when she sees her bathing suit.
"Beach?" She asks
I nod smiling and she claps her hands. I change her into a water proof pamper and then put her in her bathing suit.

I put a some white shorts on her before putting her white sandals on. I brush her teeth and then I brush mine. I fill her sippy cup up with water and then hand it her as I grab our things and we leave the apartment.
Once I have everything in the car I drive over to Maddie and Ryland's. I open the door and Rosie runs into the kitchen. I take our things for tonight upstairs and sit them in the guest bedroom. As I come back downstairs, Ryland and Maddie walk out from the kitchen with Rosie on Maddie's hip.
"Is this one new?" Maddie asks referring to Rosie's bathing suit
I nod and take Rosie from her. Rosie lays her head on my shoulder while she eats the cereal bar Ryland gave her.
"Ready to go?" I ask them
They both nod and I walk out to my car. I take out Rosie's car seat and move it to their car. I buckle Rosie in before sliding in the back with her. About fifteen minutes later we pull up at the beach. I unbuckle Rosie from her car seat and grab our beach bag. Once we find a spot in the shade I take out the spray-on sunscreen and spray it on Rosie. I take off her shorts and put them in the bag. She runs off to the sand and starts digging a hole. I gather my beach towel and put on some tanning lotion before laying my towel out and watching Rosie play with a random little girl. Maddie comes beside me wearing her hot pink bikini. She lays out her towel and leans back on her arms.
"After the wedding we talked about trying for a baby" She says
"That's amazing! You'll be a great mom Mads" I smile
"You think so?" She asks
"Of course! You guys are so good with Rosie, I can't wait to see how good you'll be with your own kid" I squeal
She smiles and watches Rosie with me. After a few minutes Ryland comes next to Maddie and asks her to take a walk with him. She looks at me questioningly and I wave them off. I watch as Ryland leads Maddie down to the shoreline holding hands.
They really are a great couple. I smile as Rosie runs up to me and shows me a seashell she picked up. I take it and lay it next to me. She runs back off and starts gathering more seashells and brings it back to me. Once she gets tired she comes back up to me and sits down on my lap.
"Want to go in the water?" I ask her
She nods and I take her hand. We slowly walk in the cold water. I stop when the water Is up to her stomach which is knee deep for me so I don't have to take off my cover up. I hear a familiar giggle and I look up. I see Jade and Travis walking towards Ryland and Maddie.
You've got to be kidding me!
I ignore them and focus on the most beautiful baby in the world. She smiles as I swing her around the water. She splashes the water, obviously having the time of her life. But since the sun is really bright today I carry her to our shaded table. I dry her legs off and spray more sunscreen on her. I fill her sippy cup up with more water and hand it to her. I always keep bottles of water in her bag for days like this. As I hold her on my lap Ryland, Maddie,Jade and Travis walk up to the table.
"Hey" Maddie smiles guiltily as she sits next to me
"You should've told that you guys invited them" I say lowly
"We didn't. They had plans to come all on their own today I promise. I wouldn't lie to you" She says
I nod at her knowing she would never lie to anyone she loves. I kiss Rosie's head as she hands Maddie her cup. I reach in her bag and take out a hair tie and put her hair in a ponytail.
"Let's go in the water" Ryland suggests to everyone
We all nod and I take out Rosie's baby float. I blow up the float as Maddie holds Rosie in her lap. The float has to holes in the middle so she can sit down and not worry about needing to know how to swim, a basic pink baby float.
I see Jade taking off her summer dress to reveal her white bikini that goes great with her tan from LA. I see Travis watching her slowly, obviously liking the view. I sit the now blown up float on the table and stand up. I carefully take my arms out of the romper then push the bottom half down my legs to reveal my black bikini.
I kick off my flip flops and then take Rosie from Maddie. I pick up the float and then we all walk down to water.
