Peridots POV

I woke up to find my bluenette cell mate gone, she must've had court this morning. I sighed and stood up, and decided I should get used to the cell since it would be where I would be staying for awhile.

I looked at the carvings on the wall, probably made from past prisoners. One was of tallies counting the days the previous person had stayed. Honestly only thought they did that in movies, but this was in fact the first time I've been in a prison cell.

"Peridot Greene?" A smaller cop approached the cell, looking in at me through the rusty bars.

"..Yes?" I breathed out, not really wanting to speak to anyone at the moment. "You can have your phone call.." He was still starring at me.

I nodded and stood up as the cop unlocked my cell. His name tag read 'S. Universe.' He had dark brown curly hair, which kind of looked like a giant flower on his head. He walked behind me as we entered the small telephone room.

"Who do you plan on calling?" He said, taking out his notepad. These cops really like taking notes on you.. What questions next? My blood type?

"My mother." She would be really disappointed, but honestly she's all I had right now. I didn't want to call Amethyst, because a "wow thanks for leaving me behind!" Wouldn't be a good conversation starter.

The cop nodded and typed in some code, I guess to activate the old pay phone hanging on the wall. I had to think for a moment to remember her number, then finally dialed.

"Hello?" My mom spoke, and my stomach filled with fear and my fingers shook. "H-hi mom!" I choked out. "Hello dear, why haven't you been answering my calls? I've been worried sick!" My stomach tied into an even tighter knot. "O-oh you know.. I've just been busy.." The cop next to me raised an eyebrow at me, and I looked away quickly.

After a phone call with my mother, explaining how busy I was with my job and such, I couldn't get the nerve to tell her my actual situation. I groaned as I walked back into the cell, seeing that my cell-mate had returned.

I sat down on the floor again, looking up towards the bluenette. After a few long moments of silence, I decided to speak.

"So.. What're you here for?" She shifted a bit on the bed and looked down at me and our eyes met for a moment.

"I got caught delivering drugs for someone.." She paused for a moment. "I have 2 years in this hell hole." She sighed and scratched the back of her head. "What am I going to tell my parents."

I sat there for a few minutes, before finally explaining myself. "I'm here because I- I robbed a bank... unsuccessfully." She kind of chuckled, which made me crack a smile myself. "I guess my court date is tomorrow." I sighed.

"Goodluck, blondie." She laid down on the bed, her back facing me.

"Its Peridot... But thank you, Blueberry." I chuckled to myself, feeling satisfied with my sassy come back.

"Mhm, and I'm Lapis, not Blueberry." She paused for a moment. "But I totally should change my name to that." She snort-laughed. "Good night." She pulled a thin green blanket over top of herself.

"Night." I sighed and stretched myself out on the floor. At least my cell-mate wasn't some former wrestler that weighed 250 pounds that could eat me in one gulp..

This is a bit of a longer-ish chapter but heyy they're becoming friends slowly but surely yay.
