Lapis's POV

I got called back down to the visitation room. I didn't understand why, it's been a month since anyone's visited me; and a month since my problem with Jasper.

I walked into the small room to see my mother sitting in a small chair in front of a desk.

"You're coming home." She finally said after starring me down.

"What?!" My jaw dropped. I couldn't tell if it happened because I was shocked, or because I was scared of the thought of leaving Peridot behind.

"I paid your bail. I'm getting you out of this miserable hell hole." She tapped her blue acrylic nails on the desk.

"W- Why?!"

"Aren't you happy to leave?" She shouted.

"No!"

"Too bad! I've worked overtime for several months just to get you out of here. Now, go say goodbye to your friends here if you even have any." She rolled her eyes.

I stormed out of the room, my eyes tearing up more and more as I ran back to my cell. I found Peridot laying on the bed reading some magazine about celebrities.

"Lapis? You alright?" She looked up from her magazine and gave me a concerned look.

"No!" I wiped away my tears with my arm. "I'm not!" Peridot threw down her magazine and rushed over to me.

"What's wrong? Did Jasper do something again?!" She stared into my eyes, her face filling with concern when I didn't answer right away.

"..My mom she... She.." I couldn't get my sentence out. I took a deep breath. "She paid my bail.. I have to leave.."

Peridots eyes widened. "Th- Thats great, Lazuli!" I could tell she was trying to hold back her own tears. "I'm happy for you." She gave a weak smile.

"I don't want to leave you, Peridot. You still have so much time in this place.." I started ugly crying again.

"Lapis, I'll be fine. I promise." Peridot have a weak smile. "Just promise me you'll still be there for when I get out of here."

"I'll visit everyday." She put her hand on Peridots cheek and pulled her in for a kiss. She pulled away slowly and sighed. "Wait, I might be able to get you out too!"

"What? How do you expect to do that..?"

"I can try getting my mom to pay for yours!"

"Lazuli.." Peridot put her hand on top of mine. "It's okay, I'll be fine here."

Lapis slowly nodded and stood up. "I'll cya tomorrow, Peridot."

Peridot nodded and watched as her partner in crime left the cell and went back to civilization.

3 years later.
Peridots POV

Lapis hasn't visited me in a year. Maybe she's already moved on. She used to visit everyday but everyday slowly faded into every week. Every week turned into once a month. Once a month turned into nothing.

My release date was quickly approaching. I was only a day from freedom. I was so ready to get out of this place, find Lapis again, and start a fresh new life in a different state or something.

I decided I'd sleep all day, that way tomorrow would come faster, and I'd get out of here. I drifted asleep after awhile of overthinking.

The next morning I was woken up by Topaz, who was gently tapping me on the shoulder.

"I'm awake.." I groaned.

"Peridot, you've been released. Gather your things and change into your clothes." She gave a small smile.

I nodded and quickly changed. Ah, no more prison jumpsuit. Once I got changed I stepped outside of the cell and Topaz guided me to the front of the prison.

She opened the doors and the breeze hit me right in the face. I breathed in the fresh air and waved goodbye to Topaz as I walked down the steps. I was given my phone back, so I could call a taxi or something. I called up Steven.

He was so excited to hear my voice. He said he'd be over soon to drive me home. I sat down on the steps while I waited and before I knew it, Steven was in front of me honking his car horn.

I walked over and got into the car, where I was given a side hug by Steven. "Didn't know you could drive now!"

"It's been a long time, Peridot." He smiled.

"Anyway, my cell mate got bailed out 3 years ago and I have no idea where she is now." She sighed.

"Well what does she look like?" Steven started his car.

"Blue hair, blue eyes.. gorgeous." I could feel myself tearing up just thinking about her.

"Oh! Lapis? Yeah she's become my beach summer fun buddy! We go to the beach sometimes. She's mentioned you before!

"WHAT?!"

"Yeah! I'll drive you to her house or something if you want!" Steven have a big smile.

"I- uh-... Okay."

"Cool! Let's go!" Steven drove off towards Beach City.

Okie so like I'm kinda starting to wrap up this book, since some parts are repetitive. That's why I did the time skip, the next chapter will most likely be the last for this book. BUT there will be a sequel I promise!!
