Peridots pov
"Who is that?" I watched Lapis's muscles tense as she looked toward some platinum blonde girl, who looked like she could crush me just by looking at me.
She starred for a long moment, until the blonde caught her eye and smirked a bit. "Shit.." Lapis started walking towards a table that was in the back corner of the cafeteria. I followed close behind her, looking back at the girl every now and then.
After sitting in a few minutes of silence, I finally spoke up. "Lapis, who was that?" Lapis turned and looked at me, her expression softening a little. "My ex.. She's the reason I'm here, guess they finally found her." She sighed, and picked at the watery mashed potatoes on her plate with a fork.
"Oh.. I'm sorry." I placed my hand on her back and started rubbing, which caused her to tense at first but she soon relaxed. I did small circular motions, and she let out a small sigh of satisfaction.
"It's okay, as long as I keep my distance from her I should be fine." She flashed a quick smile at me, which I could tell was fake.
"Lapis..?" She looked over at me and raised her eyebrow. "I won't let her hurt you.. I don't know what really happened but.. I'll try my best." Her cheeks turned a light pink, and I could feel mine heat up, probably as a tomato. But I meant it, I would have her back and hopefully she would have mine.
"Thanks." She gave me a genuine smile this time, which made me feel all warm and fuzzy. That was until the brute walked over.
"Well, well, well. Look who we have here." The buff woman chuckled a bit before continuing. "I'll be damned, my scheme actually worked! I really got you in trouble. Well that is, before you snitched on me." Lapis tensed up again, so I decided I should speak up.
"Lapis doesn't want to talk to you, so please go away.." I stuttered out, trying not to choke on my words.
"Ah, you've made friends with the brat over there I see. Surely if you knew the things she said and did to me during our relationship, you wouldn't be standing up for her right now." The girl smirked, watching Lapis, who was now digging her fingernails into her palms.
"Whatever, brute just leave her alone." She grabbed me by the collar of the T-shirt that was under my jumpsuit, and lifted me up.
"You don't know what she's capable of, what she's done." She hissed out, which caused her spit to go all over my face. Finally, a guard walked over had to pry her away from me.
I looked back at Lapis, who was in trying to hide her face in her hands. "Lapis, trust me. I don't believe a word she said because you're great.. Sure I've only known you a couple days but-" Lapis cut me off.
"Everything she said is true, you shouldn't be around me. I'm terrible.." She rubbed her eyes and stood up, and started to walk away towards the yard doors.
"Lapis, wait!" I grabbed her wrist, and she stopped like she was frozen. "Don't say that about yourself.. please." After a minute of standing in silence, she pulled away from my grip and walked out into the yard. It was now free time, so nobody stopped her. Not even me.
I should have though.
