Peridots pov

My 3 days of solitary confinement finally ended. It felt more like an entire year in there than 3 days, but I was glad to finally get out of there.

I'm surprised on how sane I kept myself. I mainly slept through the days, and when I wasn't sleeping I was drawing on a small notepad the guards agreed to give me.

I drew Lapis mainly, without even realizing how many times I had drawn her. It's like my mind always wanted to draw her.

The guard opened up the heavy ass door, and guided me out of the room. I passed several other rooms like mine on the way out, and felt really bad for the people who spend months in those things. How is that even legal?!

I got back to my cell, to see a sleeping Lapis. She was snoring softly, even though the sunlight was showing through the cracks of the bars. It was around 10 in the morning, and I was already tired since I barely slept the night before, being too eager to get out of my confinement.

I watched the guard leave then walked slowly over to the bed. I hovered over Lapis for a good while before deciding to crawl next to her. Right as my weight shifted the mattress, she turned to see who was in the bed.

"You're back!" She smiled at me, squinting her eyes a bit because of the light.

"Yeah, felt like I was in there for a year instead of 3 days." I scratched the back of my neck and sat up. "Sorry I woke you up."

"No you're fine. I need to wake up anyways." She sat up and faced me, our faces only a few inches away from each other.

We sat in silence for a moment before the bluenette leaned in and connected her lips with mine. It took me by surprise at first, but I kissed back. This is what I wanted.

She pulled away quickly, her eyes widening. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to!" Her face was bright red, and she was clearly embarrassed.

"No- it's fine. I- I uh.. liked it?" I was stumbling on my words until the guard approached our cell.

"Yard time." He unlocked our cell and I followed Lapis out. I think that we were both hoping this wouldn't ruin our friendship, but we also knew we wanted to be more than just friends.

Lapis sat down on one of the bleachers next to the basketball court. We both sat and watched as the prisoners played, their shoes scuffling around on the concrete blacktop in front of us.

"Sorry again about earlier.." Lapis kept looking straight ahead, watching the game.

"I told you it was fine." I looked over at her, and her hair was blowing slightly in the breeze. She looked over at me and nodded before turning back to watch the game.

Pearl, who I hadn't seen in awhile walked over to us and smiled. "Peridot did you see Lapis's ink?" I looked over at Lapis, looking at her trying to figure out where she had gotten a tattoo.

"No I haven't." I turned my attention to Lapis as she rolled up one of her sleeves, revealing the two blue tattoos on her arm. One was on her wrist, and another on her forearm.

"Woah, those look amazing." I rubbed my fingers over one of them, making Lapis tense a bit. "Who did them?"

"Some random dude that the prison hired. Don't worry though he was sanitary." She rolled her sleeve back down and sat back on the bleachers, her elbows keeping herself propped up. "Pearl, have yours healed yet?" She looked over at the pale woman and she nodded.

"Yes! He did a great job on it, don't you agree?" She showed off the rose she had tattooed and was smiling wide about it. "Oh, I got a Rose because that's one of my favorite flowers, and the name of one of my favorite people." She sighed dreamily before looking back at us.

"Before you ask, no I am not going to get a tattoo Pearl." I sort of rolled my eyes, causing Lapis to snort-laugh, which made me laugh.

After our laughing fit ended, We realized Pearl had walked off and that we were the only ones in the yard now.  We both stood up and walked into the cafeteria, seeing all the other prisoners eating their lunch. We decided to skip lunch, since it was always the same thing and we were never really hungry.

We walked over to our same table and sat down, until Lapis got called over by a guard who said she had a visitor.
