Peridots POV

I had absolutely no idea where this guard was taking us, but I was terrified. Sure I've been in prison for awhile and shouldn't be scared, but I was.

What was going to happen to us? Why did Lapis kiss me again? My head was spinning with questions that I had no answers to.

"We're here." The guard stopped at a large wooden door with a small window in it and turned to us. "Follow me."

She took out a key from her pocket and wiggled it into the doors lock. She grumbled for a minute before switching to a different key and the door opened.

She walked us in first, then went in behind us.

"Topaz, what did I say about not knocking?" A short woman behind a desk shouted, her hair a bit lighter than Lapis's.

"I'm sorry Miss." She looked nervous but continued talking. "These two were causing trouble in the showers. So I brought them to you."

"Causing trouble in what way?" The British girl turned to face us and chuckled a bit.

"They were uh- ya know.." Topaz was trying to gesture something with her fingers, not trying to say whatever she was going to say.

"We we're making out." Lapis finally spoke up, I could hear her eyes rolling with the sentence.

My face heated up, and I looked everywhere in the room trying to calm my senses. "Is that true?" The British girl was looking at me now, waiting for an answer.

"I-Uh..." I was sweating now, I felt it rolling down my back. Lapis looked over at me, nodding slightly. "Y-Yes."

"Right. You two share a cell correct?" The British girl was scribbling something down on a notepad.

Lapis saw how nervous I am, and decided to answer the question that Aquamarine gave me.
"Yes we do." Aquamarine finished scribbling on the notepad and looked up at Topaz.

"As head warden of Delmarva State Prison, I require that these two are moved into separate cells." Topaz nodded and looked over at us.

"N-no! We won't do it again!" I begged. "I promise- WE promise!" I looked over at Lapis, who was holding back tears. I sighed and turned to Aquamarine. "At least un-cuff us so we can say goodbye."

She nodded at Topaz and the large woman walked over and took off our handcuffs. Lapis was now sitting on the floor in the same spot she was in, starring down Aquamarine. I rushed over to her and she looked at me with sad eyes.

"I'm sorry, this is my fault." She whispered, taking my head in her hands. She put her forehead against mine and let her tears fall.

"No- Lapis it's okay." I wrapped my arms around her core and held her. I wish we were alone right now though.

Topaz started tearing up a bit, and finally spoke after awhile. "Aqua can't we just separate them for a few days? They're so in love! We can't take that away from them!"

"Topaz, Prison isn't about love! It's about learning from your mistakes!" She got up and walked over to Topaz. "I want them separated FOR GOOD!" She turned and walked out of the office.

"I- I'll be outside the door. Come out when you're ready." Topaz hung her head and walked out of the room, leaving us to talk alone.

"Lapis, look at me." I lifted her chin up to look at me. "This isn't your fault, okay?" She nodded slightly and sighed.

"I know- but I don't wanna lose you." She wiped her eyes with her free hand. I leaned over and kissed her, my face filling with blush.

"It's gonna be okay Lapis, we'll find each other again." She nodded and stood up, offering her hand to me. I accepted and she pulled me up, our fingers intertwining.

We walked out of the office and Topaz took me to the original cell we were paired up in. I would be staying there, and Lapis would be moved. I watched with sad eyes as Lapis was pulled away from me, the cell already feeling empty without her.

I laid down on the bed and wrapped the tiny blanket around myself. It was barely enough to keep me warm, but it smelled like Lapis. I already missed her.
