Lapis's pov
I watched in shock as Peridot was dragged away from our table, kicking and yelling at them to let her go.
I tried following after her, but I got pulled back before I could reach her. There were tears in my eyes, and hers. I would be alone until she got out.
I wiggled from the guards grip and fell down to my knees, tears making my vision a bit blurry. I asked the guard if I could go to my cell, which he nodded and walked me to my cell.
When he left, I sat down on the bed and put my head in my hands. What would I do during the time Peridot was in some cell without windows?
Sure I had only known this girl for a short amount of time, but it was nice to have someone around. I needed that to keep me sane.
I noticed that the girl across the hallway; the one who always stares at us, was getting a tattoo. Since it was free time, we had free roam around the cell block. I opened up the door to my cell and walked over to the girl.
"What are you getting?" I looked at the guy with the tattoo gear, and back to Pearl.
"A rose." She winced at the pain from the needle in her forearm.
I nodded and looked back at the artist. "Can I go next?" He nodded slightly and went to dip the needle in a pale pink color.
I sat down and thought about what I wanted. I've always wanted to have a full sleeve tattoo, but didn't know if that'd be possible in one day. I didn't even know what I wanted my sleeve to look like.
The artist was finally finished, and Pearl and I swapped places, I was now sitting in the chair she was just in; and she was sitting on the bed admiring her tattoo.
"So what do you want?" The man was cleaning off the needles and getting new gloves. The dude must've been hired because prison artists wouldn't be that sanitary.
"I want a full sleeve on my right arm." I finally said, looking at the needles as he cleaned them.
"That's too much work, plus we don't have a lot of time. I have to go in a few hours." He finished wiping off the gear. "I can give you two smaller tattoos for right now if you'd like."
I nodded and thought about what I wanted for a hot minute. "I want something ocean themed on my forearm and wrist on my right arm then." He nodded and stuck a couple stencils on my arm.
"Let's get on with it then." The needle started buzzing and I felt a tiny poke on my forearm. It didn't hurt that bad, but all I cared about was hoping it would at least look good.
He finished my first one, and told me not to look at it yet. He started on my second tattoo which was on my wrist. They were both colored, and that's all I knew.
Time passed, and I was finally done. The buzzing stopped and the man wiped away some of the excess ink and blood from my skin.
"Woah those look great!" Pearl leaned over and was smiling down at my tattoos. I didn't even know what they were yet.
"Okay, you can look at them." The man started packing up his stuff, and handed me some Saran Wrap. "Make sure you tell your guards it's for your tattoo, and give them it after a week when it's healed or you're going to get in trouble." He paused for a moment before leaving. "And keep it clean." He gave a slight wave and walked out the cell.
I looked down at my arm and gasped at how good the tattoos were. "They hire someone to come in here and do tattoos on some days." Pearl said, looking at her tattoo. "He's one of the best I've seen here."
"Yeah, mine are really cool, exactly what I wanted." I looked down at them again and smiled a bit. It reminded me of home.
