Lapis's POV

I kept waking up during the night, not really knowing why. I don't know if it was because of my cell-mates light snoring, or the feeling of being watched.

We had just gotten someone placed in the cell across from us, and ever since then I've had trouble sleeping. The chick gives me bad vibes. When I woke up the first time, I just saw her eyes looking at me. Of course I just brushed it off, and rolled back over to face Peridot, who was conked out on the floor.

Her hair was somehow still almost perfectly in a triangular shape, yet some strands were hanging down near her face. I laid there for awhile watching her chest rise and fall, before I drifted off to sleep myself.

The next morning, I woke up at the same time Peridot was leaving for court. She turned around after leaving the cell and gave me a small little wave, which made me smile a bit. I slid off the rock-hard bed, which surprisingly hasn't made my back hurt yet.

I was brought lunch, which was a terribly made grilled cheese sandwich with some watery tomato soup. I was starving though, so I ate it anyways.

I caught the eye of the prisoner across from us. She had light coral or pink colored hair, and her skin was very pale.

The officer who came and got Peridot walked up to my cell. "It's yard time."  He unlocked my cell and stepped to the side, letting me in front of him. He also let out the chick across from us.

He guided us to a set of double doors at the end of a long hallway. He opened them up and I was greeted by the smell of fresh cut grass, sweat, and the fall breeze.

It was nice to be outside again, even if it smelled like 50 wrestlers after a brawl. I walked over and sat down on a bench, watching everyone else weight-lift or play basketball.

"Hey." I heard someone walk up behind me, I turned around and Peridot was standing there.

"Hi, how'd court go?" She walked over and sat down next to me, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Well.. I'll be here for a little bit." She sighed and put her head in her hands. "How long..?" I looked over at her, and watched as she held back tears.

There was silence for a short while before she responded.

"..4 years." She paused for a moment to wipe her tears. "It was supposed to be 5, but I complied and admitted to doing it so they let me off by a year. What am I going to tell everyone back home." She trailed on about how much of a disappointment she'd be to her family, and how nobody would ever talk to her again.

"I'm here for 2 years.. we can have each other's backs until I have to leave." I flashed her a quick smile, and I received one back.

"Okay, that sounds good." She sniffled and wiped her nose on her orange jumpsuits sleeve.
"Thanks." She looked over at me, and my eyes met hers for a moment, before she darted hers away.

"Yeah, it's no prob Bob." I chuckled.

After a few minutes of talking, the coral haired girl walked up to us. She stood there for a moment, like she was looking us over. Peridot and I exchanged glances and she shrugged.

"You're the ones across from me, right?" She still looked at us, at this point I was getting uncomfortable.

I nodded. "Yeah, I always wake up because I feel you starring at me.." She chuckled a bit, before returning to her resting bitch-face.

"Anyway, I'm Pearl. You two look familiar but I can't put my finger on it." She scratched at her chin, still studying us. "Also, sorry for starring at you during the night. I get bored and stare off into space sometimes." Her face turned a bit red, obviously embarrassed.

Before she could say another word, the speakers in the yard came on and told us all to go to the cafeteria for lunch. As I was walking into the cafeteria with Peridot and our new acquaintance, I saw a familiar face sitting down at one of the tables. Great.

Dun dun dunnnnn, a cliffhanger bahahaha anyways I feel like this chapter was rushed but it's one of the longer ones, hope you enjoyed & cya next week <3
