Sorry for such a late upload, I was too exhausted yesterday from running a mile that I couldn't finish this chapter lol. Anyways, enjoy!

Lapis's POV

Peridot and I had just made things official a few days ago, which came to a surprise to me. We barely knew basic things about each other, but it's like we clicked as soon as we met.

"Hey Peri?" I closed the magazine I was reading, which Topaz agreed to give me earlier on in the week.

"Hmm?" She hummed in response.

"What did you do before you came to prison?"

She sat up in the wooden chair that's always been on the cell, it was falling apart but who could complain at this point?

"Well Lazuli, I was in college with my major as designing computer software." She paused for a moment to adjust herself in the chair. "Until my roommate Amethyst ruined my career by dragging me into a bank robbery."

"I see." I nodded.

"What did you do, Laz?" The way she purred out my last name made my face heat up.

"Well, I was studying to be a marine biologist in college. Also I worked at a local coffee shop." I rubbed the back of my neck. "And uh, that's all I guess."

"That sounds better than my college life. I was studying almost everyday, so I didn't really get to interact with anyone." She paused for a moment like she was thinking. "And wow! A marine biologist? That's so cool!" She smiled big.

"Yeah, but now its ruined due to my stupid decision." I groaned and rubbed my arms.

"Hey, at least your stupid decision let you meet me." Peridot did a weird smirk at me and I giggled, shoving her face away.

"Shut uppp!" I said, still laughing.

"Whatever, lets go to lunch because I am starving." Peridot stood up and started walking towards our open cell door. It was the free period during lunch where prisoners could do whatever they want if they didn't go to lunch.

"You're actually going to eat that food?" I stood up and followed her to the door. She shrugged and continued walking down the hallway til we reached the cafeteria doors.

There was hardly anyone inside, so the line for food moved quickly and we got our usual table that was in the back corner of the cafeteria.

Peridot held her nose closed as she took a bite from the mashed potatoes, and then she made a face that showed she was grossed out.

I started laughing at her, surprised she even attempted to eat the watery potatoes. Topaz approached our table, looking at Peridot.

"Hey guys, I cant believe you actually tried eating that." She looked around the room as if she was making sure nobody was watching her.
"Anyways, Peridot you have a visitor today."

Peridot finished wiping her mouth with a napkin and looked up at Topaz, her eyes widening. "W-who is it?"

"She claims to be your mom but she looks nothing like you in my opinion.." Topaz scratched the back of her neck.

I swear I saw all the color from Peridots face go away, she was pale and frozen in place.

"Oh no. No no no no! She figured it out! She knows I'm here!!" She was shaking now, obviously shook up.

I wrapped my arm around her to attempt to calm her down, which worked only a little bit. "Hey, it's going to be okay. If you need to leave just tell Topaz. She can't hurt you if you're guarded." I kissed her cheek.

She sighed and let her body relax. "I guess you're right.. It's just.. My mom and I don't get along that great."

"I'll stand right next to you if you want, I'll make sure nothing gets too out of hand!" Topaz said, smiling over to us.

"Yeah, yeah okay." Peridot stood up and bent down to kiss my forehead. "I'll be back later, okay?"

I nodded and watched as she walked off towards the visitors room. I sighed and stood up to walk back to our cell to wait for her to return.

Again, so sorry this updates so late and that it's so short but aaaa next chapter will be a bit longer. Hope you enjoyeddd~
