Well. My phone was taken away last night, as well as my iPad, AirPods and t.v remotes.

Cruel-I know, right? But, I know where they hid everything. All in one place.

Their closet.

That's where they've hid everything that they take away from us kids. But they don't know that I know where they put them.

I already told my parents that I was going for a walk, and they were cool with it. But for all I know, they probably don't care where I go or end up.

I had gone around the side of the house and gotten up into their room through the window.

So, as of right now, I am in their closet, gathering my phone and AirPods.

Since there's a chance that my parents may come in here while I'm gone, I will leave the case to my ear buds and phone.

That's exactly what I did. I took my AirPods out of their case and put them in my ears. Then I slipped the mat-black marble phone case off of my iPhone eight and placed it where they had my phone sitting before. As well as my headphone case.

Then I was on my way.

I wasn't sure how far I had gone. But I was walking down a side walk. Past many houses-they didn't look much like mine. They were smaller.

I was in a different part of town.

But, I didn't care. I was listening to 'Crushed Up' by Future. Literally, such a good song.

Is it just me, or does anyone else try to walk to the beat of the song they're listening to?

I tried, but stopped when I realized that I must look really stupid.

But, then... the song ended and 'Without Me' by Halsey started playing.

🎶 Found you when your heart was broke
I filled your cup until it overflowed
Took it so far to keep you close (Keep you close)
I was afraid to leave you on your own

I said I'd catch you if you fall
And if they laugh, then fuck 'em all (All)
And then I got you off your knees
Put you right back on your feet
Just so you can take advantage of me

Tell me how's it feel sittin' up there
Feeling so high but too far away to hold me
You know I'm the one who put you up there
Name in the sky
Does it ever get lonely?
Thinking you could live without me
Thinking you could live without me
Baby, I'm the one who put you up there
I don't know why (yeah, I don't know why)
Thinking you could live without me
Live without me
Baby, I'm the one who put you up there
I don't know why (I don't know why, yeah yeah)

Gave love 'bout a hundred tries (hundred tries)
Just running from the demons in your mind
Then I took yours and made 'em mine (made 'em mine)

I didn't notice 'cause my love was blind
Said I'd catch you if you fall (fall)-🎶

I was enjoying my song. Up until the point when the loudest car horn I had ever heard echoed through my ears-completely blocking out the sound of my music.

I shot my head up, towards the sound. And I was met with two, bright headlights.

A hand grabbed my arm. I was quickly and forcefully pulled backwards into a body as the car just missed me. My breathing was heavy as I took my AirPods out of my ears.

I stuffed them in my pocket as the hand continued pulling me back to the sidewalk.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" A male voice asks worriedly.

"Not really." I replied in all honesty. I glanced at my surroundings. The road was pretty much empty except for a few cars parked on the side. All I did was cross the road... The hand moved from my forearm up to my shoulder. Then another hand met with my other shoulder and I was lightly spun around.

My blue eyes were met with another pair of blue eyes. Not like my moms-they were like sky blue.

Then I scanned the rest of his face. He looked very familiar.

"Are you okay?" He asks, his voice now softer than it was before.

I nodded.

He scanned his eyes over my face,

"Blair, right?"

"Yeah. How'd you know that?" I asked. Maybe I really did know him... but I couldn't put my finger on it.

"You're in my grade. We had Math together last year." He replied.

That's where he's from!

"Right! You're..." I trailed off, not knowing his actual name.

He let out a small chuckle before insisting my sentence,

"Jamie." (Below)

"Right." I stated.

"What are you doin' walking in the middle of the street?" He asked, changing the topic... kind of.

I shrugged,

"Trying to avoid my parents for a bit."

"Ah, I see." He said, clearly understanding how I feel.

"What about you? Why are you wondering the streets at night?" I questioned him, turning the tables.

He slightly hesitated,

"Kind of the same reason."

I nodded, not wanting to ask any further questions. It's clearly a sensitive topic.

"Can I walk you home?" He asked, kind of randomly.

I hesitated before I opened my mouth to answer, but he noticed and added,

"I mean. The streets ain't that safe at night. And you clearly aren't paying attention, so..."

"It's alright. I'll pay more attention this time." I assured him.

He nodded,

"Where are you from, anyways?"

"Jenkins Street. Just, like, five minutes walking distance from school." I replied.

He nodded, understanding,

"I live one road over from you. Cooper Avenue."

"Oh, so we may as well walk back together." I stated.

He nodded,

"May as well."

We began walking. I knew my ways around Lansing like the back of my hand. But it felt... good walking with someone.

Just, even when two people aren't talking, company can sometimes be nice.

"Do you know what classes you're in yet? For next year?" He asked, trying to start a conversation.

I shook my head,

"No. Do you?"

He shook his head,

"Nope. But, maybe we'll have a few."

I shrugged,

"Maybe."

I then saw him shrug,

"Maybe."
