•••Astrid POV•••
We had just arrived at the island a week ago. Camp had been set up and jobs were assigned to everyone. I was in charge of hunting for food. Our year starts now.
"Astrid. We need food for tonight. We've already started running out of fish, but I could have sworn that we brought enough to last us at least a month," Fishlegs said stopping me as I left my tent.
"Yeah okay. I'll go out now. I've not nothing better to do anyways," I replied grabbing my axe and heading to the woods.
Hunting wasn't hard for me. My father taught me how at a really young age, just for this year. There wasn't much to hunt out here. It was as if they had all mostly disappeared. Yeah there were a few rabbits here and there but if we wanted dinner we would need more than that. There was a twig snap behind me. I looked around and saw a deer. I sighed remembering how there could be dragons on this island.
The deer got spooked by me and ran in the other direction. I cursed under my breath as I ran after it. The deer finally came to a stop on the island's west beach and I readied myself to kill it, but then I spotted something else. It didn't look to be a wild animal. In fact it looked...more like a dragon. It's one I've never seen before. All black and with a saddle? It seemed to be unconscious. I knew I couldn't risk just killing it here and now, there was a possibility that there could be more.
"I need to get the others." I whisper, forfeiting the deer for another predator.

"I've never seen anything like it." Fishlegs said examining the dragon. We had all warned him to be cautious but he just went straight for it.
"I wonder if it's in the book of dragons. The only one that doesn't have any information is-." Fishlegs stopped mid sentence and backed away slowly.
"Guys. I think I know what kind of dragon this is. It's a Nightfury." Fishlegs explained.
"That's impossible. What would a Nightfury be doing all the way out here?" I asked.
"Why don't you ask him." Tuffnut said from behind us. We all turned to look at the Nightfury. He had moved over and was staring at us. Everyone backed away, our only hope was to run and hope it doesn't follow.
"Astrid, Fishlegs, I know you want to study this dragon, but I don't want to die before this stupid test is over." Snotlout said as he ran into the woods. We all had agreed that we should leave until the dragon let out a low purr, it sounded like it was in distress and would take any help it could get. After hearing that I started hesitating going back. What would this dragon need that he would risk his life to get?
"Wait, Fishlegs. I need you to head back to camp and get all the medical supplies we have." I ordered.
"Wait? What? Astrid are you going to help that dragon?" Snotlout asked. I nodded, moving slowly towards the Nightfury. He gave another purr but this one was more of a light, 'thank you.' He moved over and opened his wings. He was holding onto something.
"I didn't know our crazy was contagious." Ruffnut whispered to her twin. They both laughed causing the Nightfury to stop and snarl at us.
"Shh, shh, shh. Don't worry about them. There just idiots. They won't hurt you." The Nightfury calmed down and opened his wings and just as Fishlegs got back from camp.
"Is that a person?!" He asked. It was. They were wearing black leather armor and had a helmet covering their face. Their breathing was slow and their armor was ripped in many different places where you could see that the skin had been grazed or cut.
"Fishlegs! Hurry and bring the medical supplies!" I yelled. Fishlegs had really brought everything from camp. I stepped back as Fishlegs sat down by the person. He had taken the armor off and started dressing the person's wounds. He took off the helmet to reveal a boy with messy auburn colored hair and a small scar on his chin.
"His wounds aren't as bad as they look but he still needs rest. Back at camp is our best option." Fishlegs explained. The Nightfury wasn't a fan of the idea. He growled and stood protectively over the boy.
"There has to be another way. There is no way that dragon will let us take him." I said.
"What if we just brought supplies here. When he wakes up he can take the stuff and leave. Then we don't have to worry about it ever again." Snotlout suggested. I hate to admit it, but it's our best idea.
"You don't need to. I have all the supplies I need." Said someone. The boy was awake.
"Where. Are they invisible cause I don't see anything." Tuffnut said.
"Invisible food. Imagine how crazy you would seem when someone sees you eating." Ruffnut reenacted what it would be like to eat an invisible sandwich. The boy ignored the twins putting his helmet back on and climbing onto the Nightfury.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"You're hurt. You should rest." Fishlegs added.
"It's just a scratch, it will be fine." He replied ready to take off. He didn't get very far as he fell right into the ocean.
"Oh for Thor's sake!" He cried surfacing. I finally noticed that he sort of had a Berkian accent.
"We should leave. He can solve his own problems. Besides, I'm ready for breakfast." Snotlout turned towards camp and started heading, the twins following behind in suit.
"Are you okay bud?" The boy asked, his dragon purred back happily.
"Well. If your dragon can't fly. How are you supposed to get off the island?" I asked cockily. He snarled at me and turned away.
"I just need his spare. Then I'll leave, you won't even remember me." The boy started rummaging through his bag looking for something.
"And, that was your spare."
