•••Snotlout POV•••
I watched as Hiccup stretched his hand out towards the dragon. The dragon just cocked its head to the side not doing anything. And when nothing happened, that's when things started going south. Hiccup pulled away from the Deadly Nadder just before it could bite off his hand. I ran out and grabbed Hiccup's arm.
"Get out of here. I'll kill the beast." I said. Hiccup stood in front of me blocking me from the Nadder.
"I won't let you." He replied. I scowled at him.
"Do you want us to die?! Get out of the way!" I pushed him out of the way but he just stood right back up again. The Deadly Nadder noticed this too and stepped back. Hiccup turned around and tried his plan again. I raised my axe as a precaution.
The Nadder finally understood what Hiccup was doing. I watched as the dragon leaned in to let Hiccup touch it. Hiccup smiled and scratched its head. The Nadder Seemed calm, almost happy. The Nadder finally gave up the chase and left us be to go back to its pack. Hiccup started leading us back to camp.
It was silent for a good ten minutes of the walk before I could actually talk about what happened.
"Why did you save me?" I asked. Hiccup looked back.
"What?"
"I mean, I've been so mean to you, I've blamed you for things you didn't do, I didn't like you and it was obvious you didn't like me. So then why did you save me?" I asked again.
"Everyone deserves a chance. Dragons, humans, animals. Even if they are jerks." Hiccup said.
"Besides. You were just worried for your friends. I understand how you feel." Hiccup added. I nodded and sighed in relief.
"Oh and, can I ask you something Snotlout?" Hiccup asked.
"You just did." I replied making a joke. We laughed for a bit before Hiccup turned serious again.
"But no seriously. How do we get back to camp?" Hiccup asked. I froze. I looked around realizing we had gone really far and had no idea where the heck we were.
"Hehe, yeah, I don't know either."
•••Astrid POV•••
"Has anyone seen Snotlout and Hiccup?" I asked. I couldn't find them anywhere near the camp so I had just assumed they had gone farther, but they haven't come back yet.
"Sorry no, I haven't seen them at all." Suddenly there was a whimper. It came from Hiccup's tent. When we entered it was just Toothless. I've never seen Hiccup leave Toothless' side at all since the day we met.
"They must be in trouble! We have to go find them!" I said ordering everyone to the sky.
•••Hiccup POV•••
I hate to admit that the run through the woods we just took had reopened my wound. I was dizzy from the lose of blood and I could tell I was starting to slow down. Snotlout hasn't noticed because of his urgency to find the camp.
"I'm going to climb this tree, you stay here." Snotlout said. I nodded and sat down by the tree. The blood was starting to seep through the leather of my outfit.
"Snotlout!" I called. Snotlout looked back at me to listen.
"Call your dragon! We can get out of here faster." Snotlout never replied.
"Call Hookfang!"
"I'm not calling that stupid, blood thirsty, man eating lizard. We can handle this on our own." Snotlout finally spat out. I swear he was even more stubborn than me.
"It will be easier than just wandering around aimlessly!" I cried. Snotlout scowled and just decided to ignore me. Our only chance now would either be the others finding us or Snotlout somehow finding the way back to camp.
"I found the way back to camp!" Snotlout cried out. I sighed.
'Finally.'
"Well, which way?" I asked. Snotlout pointed just ahead of us. See, we were going in the right direction. We just have to keep going straight.
"Then hurry and get down so we can go." I said. Snotlout nodded and slid down the tree falling at the end and hitting his head.
"Ow! Not cool tree! Not cool!" Snotlout cried out. I laughed but then doubled over in pain as it hurt too much. This time Snotlout noticed.
"Hey are you okay?" He asked. I stand up straight again and then brush him off.
"Fine. Let's just get going." I said.
•••Snotlout POV•••
Hiccup walked away without saying anything else. I watched him go ahead of me. He was slow and he kept swaying. He stopped a lot to catch his breathe and even toppled to the ground a few times. By now I was carrying him draped over my shoulder.
"You should have said something. Now your just causing problems." I said. Hiccup looked at me, seriousness in his eyes.
"And your saying if I had told someone, I wouldn't be causing problems. Besides, if I just rest it will heal in no time." He replied. I shook my head.
"Sadly, that's not how the human body works my friend. That cut you've been hiding won't heal anytime soon. It could get infected. Then you would be a bigger problem. And that means no flying for you." Hiccup was taken aback. He apparently didn't know that I knew about his wound.
"Guess the bleeding gave it away, huh." Hiccup joked. I chuckled.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that." I replied. Suddenly it went silent. Hiccup had passed out, most likely from blood loss. I stopped walking to lay him down by a tree so I could check his wound. The bleeding was getting worse and the bandage he had on was soaked in blood. I wouldn't dare take it off. Hiccup mumbled something in another language and cringed when I had touched the wound. We were too far from camp to make it without him bleeding out and there was no way the others would find us in time. There was only one option left.
"Stay here. I mean, of course you have to stay here, I mean you can't even hear me, shut up Snotlout!" I ran around the area looking for a dragon. But not just any dragon.
My dragon.
