I was raised on a small island just outside the archipelago. I lived with Toothless, a Nightmare I called Flame and a Nadder named Spike. There were other dragons on the island but this was our little mismatched family. I spent ten years on the island before the hunters attacked. Toothless took me off the island before we could get hurt, much to my disapproval. When we went back there were no dragons. They had all been taken.

"We have to find those dragon hunters Bud." I said. Toothless purred. I climbed on his back and we went from island to island looking. By the time I found them, I was too late. They had been sold, killed, skinned, and enslaved. As a young boy I couldn't do anything. I could barely even hold a weapon. Toothless decided it would be best to leave the island. It was no place for a child to be.

"What do we do now, Toothless? Our home is gone, our family is gone, I'm scared Bud." I said with tears in my eyes, Toothless whimpered. Later that day we settled down on an island that would later be our home. We stayed there for five years training to fight the dragon hunters. That's when I met Dagur and Heather. Siblings that had infiltrated the dragon hunters. Dagur was twenty and Heather sixteen so they were like older siblings to me.

4 years past and I was tasked with a mission to destroy the hunter's dragon root farm. It was a trap and I was ambushed. That's when I washed up on the island where I met the others.

"Dagur and Heather? The Berserkers?" I asked. Hiccup nodded.

"I didn't realize that you knew them." He said. It was my turn to nod.

"We were at war with the Berserkers just a few years ago. I had met Dagur once but I knew Heather pretty well. She was trying to stop her brother so she sided with us." I explained. Just then Spitelout burst through the door.

"Stoick, two dragon riders were spotted just a ways away from Berk. They're flying towards us. What do we do?" Spitelout explained.

"Set up minimal defenses. I don't think they're here for a fight." Behind me I could barely see Hiccup smile. Boy I hope I'm doing the right thing.

"What business do you have with our island?" I asked. I stood in front of Hiccup just in case. The riders were sat on two dragons, they both had hoods and masks on and I couldn't see who they were. Hiccup was trying to look over me and the other villagers to see.

"Um, I think I might know these two." Hiccup said. I looked back at him.

"Heather and Dagur?" I whispered. Hiccup nodded. I let him pass to talk to the riders.

"Hiccup!" Said the more slender woman. She took her hood off revealing her raven braid and green eyes. She jumped off her dragon pulling him into a hug.

"We were so scared. You just disappeared on us for a year. We couldn't find you, everyone thought you had been captured or killed. But then we got your terror mail." Heather said. The other, more built Viking, got down from his dragon and joined the hug. But not before revealing himself too.

"Good to see you again Brother." Dagur said. I stepped forward.

"Long time no see Dagur." I replied. Dagur jumped.

"S-Stoick! You seem...well." He stuttered. I smirked, knowing full well that he was scared of me.

"We heard that Viggo attacked Berk? Is everyone okay? Are you okay?" Heather asked. Hiccup nodded.

"Everyone is fine. Not a single scratch." He replied. Heather looked to me for reassurance so I nodded. Heather sighed.

"That's good. But we also came for some other news. Viggo found Dragon's Edge. He burned it down." Heather explained. Hiccup's eyes widened in fear.

•••Hiccup POV•••

"How did he find it?" I asked. Heather shook her head.

"We don't know. We only got there in time to salvage your hut and set free the dragons. Viggo had sent us out on a mission, most likely to keep us away. I think he's on to us." She replied. Dagur gripped her shoulder.

"Your hut, the clubhouse, the arena, and the stables. Burned to a crisp." He explained.

"We were only able to get a few things from your hut before it was too smoky to see or breathe. Here." Dagur handed me a small pile of things from my hut. My inventions, drawings and blueprints, and two of Toothless' prosthetic tail fins.

"Thanks guys. I'll just go put these away." I said. I turned to walk to my temporary hut when Stoick stopped me.

"How would you like to live with me. There is a room in the upstairs of my hut that was meant for you when you were a baby. It has a lot of space and a nice bed for you to sleep on." He suggested.

"Of course that is only if you want too. It's fine if you decline my offer." Stoick mumbled. I smiled.

"Yeah. That would be great." I replied. Stoick's expression brightened, but he hid it away and pretended it didn't happen. A Viking couldn't ruin his reputation I guess.

"Then uh, please follow me." He said after clearing his throat. I nodded and followed him back to the house. All the villagers scattered and went back to whatever they were doing and Gobber took Heather, Dagur, and the gang to the arena. Tuffnut had taken up a weird fascination with Windsheer, Heather's dragon, and followed it wherever it went. We entered into the house and I followed Stoick upstairs.

"Well, here we are." He said pushing open the door. It was a small room, donning a small twin bed, a desk, and a small table by the bed. It wasn't much, but it felt like home.

"Welcome home Hiccup."
