•••Hiccup POV•••

I pulled on my mask and booked it across the cabins, Toothless trailing right behind me.

"The smoke is too thick. I can't see anything." I coughed out. Toothless lit up his mouth and stepped forward. I grabbed onto his wing as he pulled. Up on the top deck wasn't any better from down below but at least there was a bit of fresh air. I looked around for the source of the fire. Just barely through the smoke I could see 4 hunters chuckling. One held a bow in his hand. Which means that he shot the arrow as soon as I went downstairs or else the fire wouldn't be this big. It covered most of the deck and was already making its way to the posts, which meant that they could be knocked down any minute.

"Let's get out of here Toothless." I said jumping onto his back. Toothless roared and took to the sky. In the next minute all the other dragon riders were up in the air.

"Hiccup are you okay?!" Astrid asked.

"I'm fine. I got out just in time." I replied. Snotlout flew forward shakily and grabbed my clothes.

"You started that fire didn't you?! There was something on board that you didn't want us to know about so you used your fire breathing monster to start a fire and get rid of all the evidence!" He yelled.

"What?! Of course not! Did you not see the group of hunters on the shore? They shot a flaming arrow at the boat and tried to kill me!" I shot back angrily. Snotlout stood his ground.

"We just flew right over the beach, there were no hunters in the woods or on the beach! Just admit it! You set that fire!" I sneered.

"Fine. Don't believe me. I'll find them myself, and when I'm done I'll be leaving. Don't follow me." I growled and flew off without another word.

•••Astrid POV•••

"You idiot!" I yelled smacking Snotlout.

"What?!" He asked.

"You had no proof he started that fire! Just because you don't like him doesn't mean you need to blame him for something he obviously didn't do!" I said.

"How do you know he didn't do it?! What if he's just some spy sent by Alvin! Remember the last time Alvin attacked? The chief's baby son died! You all heard the story from your parents. We were all his age. It very well could have been one of us! I'm not risking it!" Snotlout replied. Everything Be was silent. It was true. We've all heard the stories. The day Alvin attacked was horrible. There was only one casualty. The cheif's baby boy was taken captive and assumed killed by Alvin. Everyone believed he was dead as we never saw him again. First his mother Valka then him. Stoick was devastated.

"Fine, we'll keep an eye on him. But I'm telling you now that he isn't a spy." I said. I didn't think he was a spy, but if this is what it took to calm down my team, then I guess I'll have to do it.

"I'll take first watch. Then Fishlegs, then Ruff and Tuff, then you Snotlout. But only for today." I explained.

"Why do the twins get to interrogate him before me?!" Snotlout asked pouting.

"Because we are Thorston and Thorston Master Sleuths." The twins said at the same time, they had been on this Thorston and Thorston thing since our fish started to disappear.

"And also the fact that we are remarkably nicer than you." Ruffnut added. Snotlout huffed but didn't complain anymore.

"I'll come and get you when it's your turn Fishlegs." I said. I scratched Stormfly's head and pulled myself on top of her. I flew off in a random direction looking for Hiccup. I spotted him some distance away in a clearing. Purple shots were being fired. I flew closer and saw hunters shooting green tipped arrows, but Hiccup was shielding them off using a metal shield and a flaming sword. Toothless shot his plasma blast at the hunters a few times but they would always retreat.

"Let's give him a hand Stormfly." Stormfly readied a short and fired at the hunters. This distracted them long enough for Hiccup to knock them out. I landed and jumped off Stormfly. I pet Toothless and then walked over to help Hiccup tie up the hunters.

"I had that handled." He mumbled.

"Sure you did. I just came in with some extra back up." I retorted.

"I thought I said not to follow me?" Hiccup joked. He was more relaxed around me than the others but I could tell that after the fiasco just half an hour ago lowered his trust.

"Yeah well, you seemed like you needed someone to talk to. Plus I had to get away from Snotlout. He was going on about you being a spy for Alvin and how we needed to keep an eye on you. Psh, there's nothing threatening about you, your a toothpick!" I explained. Hiccup chuckled and so did Toothless. We sat for awhile questioning the hunters that were awake before completely knocking them all out and leaving for camp.

"I also wanted to give you advice. The others don't trust you like I do, they'll be watching you like a hawk, especially Snotlout. Maybe if you try hard enough you can make friends with some of them. I know that Fishlegs has been eager to talk to you." I said. Hiccup looked away.

"I don't know. They have all the reason to not trust me. I still don't know if I can trust you guys if I'm being honest." Hiccup replied. I put my hand on his shoulder hoping to comfort him. We walked into camp, it was empty as everyone was gone for their individual jobs. I showed Hiccup an empty tent he could use for tonight.

"You don't have to trust them completely. Just, talk to them." I said. Hiccup smiled. Toothless nuzzled in between us and purred before shutting his eyes and falling asleep.

"He's beautiful. I don't know how you ever became friends. Must be another long story for another time right?" I joked.

"I think we have time." Hiccup replied. It was dark but the story was worth the wasted sleep.
