Chapter 14

•••Hiccup POV•••

"I don't understand. How did they find me?" I said. Astrid shook her head.

"I don't know. But it doesn't matter now. We have to go help." She replied.

"I have to go get Toothless. He can help!" I pulled out of Astrid's grip and ran to get Toothless. I opened the arena gate and Toothless came running to me.

"Come on bud. We've got a village to safe." I said jumping onto the saddle. I was about to take off when Astrid and the others came into the arena.

"Leaving without us?" Now that's just rude." Tuffnut said.

"Of course not. Let's get going riders!" Everyone got on their dragons and we took off. The hunters were everywhere in the village. There were no Berkians in sight which meant they took cover. All except for one.

"Stoick!" Astrid yelled. Said Chief was backed into the wall of his house, he was surrounded by five hunters, and Viggo.

"Let's go bud!" I said diving down towards the house. Two of the hunters ran scared while the other three drew their bows. Viggo looked up at me and smiled.

"Ah, it's nice to see you again my friend." Viggo said.

"I am not your friend." I spat. Viggo laughed.

"Yes. I believe so. I was just making negotiations with the Chief of Berk you see. However he is one stubborn man, just like you I may add." He explained.

"What kind of negotiations?" I asked.

"Peace for the Village of Berk for one dragon rider and Nightfury." Viggo said.

"You can't do it Stoick! Hic- The Dragon Conquerer can help us!" Astrid yelled. I shook my head.

"If this is the way it shall be, then so be it. However, Toothless will stay here. No negotiations will change my mind." I said. Astrid was about to disagree when I stopped her.

"Take care of Toothless alright?" I said and jumped off Toothless. I walked over to Viggo with my hands in the air. One of the hunters came and grabbed my arms. I tried shaking him off but it didn't work.

"Well! That worked way better than I thought it would!" Viggo said happily. He grabbed my saddle bag off Toothless and waved his hand at the Berkians.

"Thanks for doing business with me." Viggo said. I looked back at Toothless and smiled.

"I'll see you later Bud."

•••Astrid POV•••

We all watched as Viggo dragged Hiccup away. Toothless whimpered at my side. I rubbed his head.

"Don't worry. We're getting him back." I said.

"Why bother. The village is safe now." Snotlout mumbled. I pulled my axe out and tackled him.

"Are you kidding?! Hiccup just saved the village! At the cost of his life probably!" I yelled. Gobber pulled me off Snotlout.

"Calm down Lass. There isn't much we can do anyways." He said.

"But Gobber! You said...what if your theory is true?! Then what?! We just let him get captured?! After he's finally home?!" I yelled. Stoick grabbed my shoulder.

"What are ye talking about? Theory, home, and what you called him before. Hiccup." He asked.

"Ask Gobber. He'll tell you." I said pulling away. Stoick turned to Gobber who just sighed and retold Stoick his theory.

"I've heard this all before. And now you want me to believe that 'dragon boy' is my son. I'm sick of this." Stoick turned to leave but I stopped him.

"But Chief! He has the pendant!" I yelled. Stoick stopped dead in his tracks.

"What pendant?" Stoick asked shakily.

"Don't pretend like you don't know! The betrothal gift you gave to Valka! The one you gave to your son just before he was taken!" At this point my throat hurt but I couldn't stop yelling. Fishlegs came up behind me.

"You can't leave him now. If he truly is your son, then you just left him for dead." Fishlegs said. The riders all nodded in agreement. Stoick didn't move.

"Then what are we waitin' for. Let's go get that 'dragon boy'."

•••Hiccup POV•••

"You didn't have to take my leg too. It's not like I can run away and just jump out of the ship." I said. Ryker sneered.

"Extra precautions." He replied. Viggo was sorting through my bag.

"Ah. So you made yourself a Dragon Eye. It's quite beautiful if I must say so." Then he threw it to the side of the ship. It didn't break but I'd have to check and see if it was okay. What Viggo really wanted was the lenses.

"So many wonderful lenses. Krogan and Johann would be so happy to see these." Viggo said. He sling the saddle bag over his shoulder and walked up to a hunter.

"Fire the catapults. Destroy Berk." He said.

"Wait! You said that if I surrendered you would leave Berk alone!" I yelled. Viggo laughed.

"That's just how business works Hiccup." Viggo raised his hand and lowered it shouting "FIRE!" Four catapults launched at once. But the boulders never hit Berk. They never even left the clouds.

"What? What's happening?" Viggo asked grabbing a hunter by their tunic.

"I-I don't know sir. Maybe they hit something else?" The hunter replied. Viggo sneered and pushed the hunter away.

"Fire another round but this time aim lower!" Viggo ordered. The hunters did as they were told but yet again they didn't hit. They splashed down into the water just like last time.

"What's happening?" Ryker asked.

"The boulders are hitting something in the clouds. It's probably dragons." Viggo replied.

"The other dragon riders?" Viggo nodded.

"Most likely. Looks like we were both planning on betraying each other." Viggo let a simple but terrifying smirk grow on his lips.

"Let them have their prize. We got what we wanted." Viggo said. Ryker came over and grabbed me by my ropes and dragged me to the edge of the boat.

"Show yourselves! We know you are there!" Viggo cried. The other dragon riders flew out of the clouds. Astrid was riding Toothless, but who was riding Stormfly? My answer came immediately when she burst through the clouds with Stoick on her back.
