College is expensive. Textbooks, dorms, everything about school is expensive.
Which is why I got a job at the library near my house. I'm a usual at the library, so it was perfect.
And it seemed like everybody had tests this week, (including myself) so the place has been kinda packed lately.
-
It was 4pm and I just got home from (some sports) practice. The library was almost empty and as usual, quiet. No sound echos the building besides the sound of my breathing, pages of a book flipping and occasionally some whispering.
And since it was so quiet, I decided to do some studying of my own. Hey, no one was checking out the books, so I took advantage of it.
I was in the middle of reading a paragraph in my textbook, when I heard a little voice say,
"Excuse me?"
I looked up and saw young-looking face. His hair was platinum blonde and swept away from his face. He wore an oversized black hoodie and his black-rimmed glasses framed his face perfectly.
He must be a senior if he looks like that...
"Oh, I'm so sorry," I pushed aside my textbook and got to scanning the books. "I didn't think anybody else would come in..." I said, embarrassed.
"No worries, I would've done the same thing." A light chuckle snuck past his lips. It sounded like music.
"Hey, you look familiar," he said. "Is your name... Y/N?"
"Yeah," I said. "But I haven't seen you around.. are you an upperclassman?"
He nodded. "Yeah, I'm in 11th grade."
"Ah, just a grade above me," I scanned the last three of his books. "How've you seen me, but I haven't seen you?"
"I don't know," he grabbed all his books and held them against his chest. "But I'll see you around. Maybe I'll come here more often so I can see you." He smiled.
"Well... I think my shift's almost over..."
"Let me know when it is," he pointed to a table near a window. "I'll be over there."
"Okay..." I shyly muttered.
Did that just actually happen?
