(Insert cliche love story warning 🥰)

"C'mon Y/N! You only live once, please?" Namjoon begged. I was ignoring him because he brought up going to prom. I didn't wanna go. I never went to a school dance and Namjoon didn't either.

He would always hang around at the library with me, since that's where I was most of the time. It was quiet. I like quiet places.

A dance at a high school, filled with rowdy teenagers is the exact opposite of quiet.

"Just talk to me, please. You're being kinda annoying right now."

"Well, why do you wanna go to prom all of the sudden?" I snapped.

"You never loosen up. Why don't we go together?" I looked at him. He suddenly realized what he said. "It'll be platonic, strictly just as friends."

( hehe, Hobo Johnson, anyone?)

"Please Y/N?" He stuck his bottom lip out.

Fine.

"Okay. I'll go, but if you find me curled up in a corner, I'll hate you forever," I said. "And I'll come up with a consequence for ruining my life!"

Namjoon out his hand over his chest and gasped dramatically. "You monster! You wouldn't do such a thing!"

I took one of my pillows and hit him as hard as I could. His face was hilarious.

"Challenge accepted, Mr. Kim," I said cockily. "You don't know what's coming."

It's finally prom week. Namjoon got asked out by some girl. She's probably gonna abandon him, knowing her reputation. But it's not that I know her.

Oh, and I... don't have a date..

I went dress shopping with Mom this afternoon and I settled on a small crimson-colored, lace dress. It was off the shoulder and long-sleeved. I liked it.

Mom also got me a lace black choker.

"Wow Y/N," she said. The dressed fit like a glove. "I haven't seen you in a dress in years. You look absolutely beautiful. I'm sure your date will love it."

"Thanks, Mom," I said. "But, I don't have a date."

"You don't?" She asked.

I shook my head. I kinda forgot to tell her.

"Either way, you look stunning."

prom night.

I drove to myself to the school and I was already beginning to feel sick.

Despite wearing a 'fancy' dress, I had no makeup on besides lip gloss. My hair was the same as it usually was; down. I also had on all-black Converse.

I stood in front of the school, the stigma poking through me.

Was this a good idea?

"Y/N!" The voice of my best friend interrupted my thoughts. I turned around and saw Namjoon. He was wearing a black tux. His hair was gelled and he had contacts in, instead of his usual glasses.

He looks so handsome, my god.

The girl he was going with, had her arm linked with his. She had on a face full of makeup and a lilac-colored dress. We looked like the complete opposites.

"Whoa Y/N, you look.. amazing." He looked me from head to toe. My cheeks turned the color of my dress.

"I could say the same for you," I gave a small smile. "Um.. let's get inside, shall we?"

time skip.

I hate this I hate this I hate this.

Namjoon's gonna get it once this night's over. I'm currently sitting in a chair near the exit, wanting to cry. I kept getting shoved around by rowdy teens, some laughing at me because of the way I was dressed.

On top of that, the punch was thrown on me. Good thing it was the same color as the dress. But I feel sticky and disgusting.

Good thing I'm not wearing any makeup. I can bawl as much as I want.

I was about to cry when I heard a chair scoot next to mine.

"Y/N?"

It was Namjoon.

I looked up at him. "Mhm?"

"Are you okay?"

I shook my head. "No."

"Why aren't you with your date?" I asked. He sighed.

"She ditched me for some jock. It's nothing personal, though."

Poor thing.

"Oh. Sorry about that." I felt his head on my shoulder.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me," he said. "Anyways, from just seeing you over here, I probably ruined your life. Do your worst. You're only here because of me."

I want to, but I can't.

"I was over exaggerating, Joon."

I heard him chuckle. Oh how I missed hearing that. "See? You love me too much to hurt me!"

I blushed. "Shut it."

Suddenly, I heard SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK play. Namjoon and I love that song. The lights dimmed and everyone started slow dancing.

"Wanna dance?" Namjoon lifted his head from my shoulder.

I shook my head. "I don't know how, Joon."

"Sure you do." he grabbed my hand and joined the other dancers. He put one of his hands on my waist, while his free hand was intertwined with mine. One of my hands was rested on his shoulder.

Then we started moving to Joji's voice playing from the speakers. "There you go. You're doing great." He smiled and my heart bursted from my chest.

What is this man doing to me?

My night slowly shifted from bad to good. I couldn't help but smile.

"Thanks for convincing me to come here, Joonie," I wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my head on his chest. He was caught off guard, but wrapped his arms around me.

"No problem, Jagiya."

Um...

He pulled away, realizing what had just come out from his mouth.

"I'm sorry Y/N, I slipped and..." he paused. "I may or may not like you. And I may or may not wanted to ask you to prom..."

I was in shock. At this point, another song had started playing.

I mean... I don't like him... but at the same time I do.

"I'm flattered but," his face became grim as I said that. "To be honest, I don't like you, but at the same time I do... I don't know. And I'm sorry if I made you feel bad about confessing, Joon..."

"Once you know, tell me. But for now, let's enjoy the moment." He places a kiss on my forehead.
