Flashback
Y/N sighed grimly as she packed up her possessions into a large box. Her home was in South Korea. She didn't know of anywhere else that could ever feel like home. Her family moved there when she was barely a year old. It had been ten years.
She took the framed photo of her and Jin and held it against her chest. She wouldn't see him in a very long time.
"Honey," that voice made her jump. She turned around, her mom standing behind her. "Jin wants a word with you." And a little cute boy walks into Y/N's room. Her mother went on to pack up the rest of the house.
"Hey Y/N," said Jin grimly. Y/N put the framed photo into the box. "I'm gonna miss you. A lot. So, I made us friendship bracelets to remember each other by." He held out a bracelet made of colored string. Y/N out the bracelet on and hugged Jin tightly.
"I'm gonna miss you so much, Jin." A tear slipped down her face. Jin pulls away and looks at her with the saddest expression.
"Hey," Jin's voice went into a more soothing tone. "We can always call each other."
Y/N sniffled. "I know," she said. "Just... listen before I go, okay?"
"I'm all ears."
Y/N pulls him back in for a hug. "I'm always gonna be there for you, okay? You're the best, Jin. And I wanna be the best for you too."
Jin held back the tears. "You've already been the best these past five years."
Present Time.
I was wandering the streets of South Korea. It felt so amazing being back home. It's been fifteen years and this place feels exactly how it felt when I was only ten.
In those fifteen years, my best friend had become a successful idol and is so talented at what he does. He never forgot about me over those years. We would video chat a couple times a week when we were younger and when we got older.
I stop by a coffee shop and order a coffee. I sit down and sip on it as I read a book.
About five pages deep into the book, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I look up and see Jin.
I put the bookmark into the book and looked at him in shock. "Oh my god."
"I missed you-" I didn't let him finish because I had attacked him with the tightest hug.
"You have no idea how long I've been wanting to hug you," I said, squeezing him tighter. "I missed you more, Jinnie~"
"C-can't b-breathe..."
I pulled away. "Sorry..."
Jin took in a big breath of air and exhaled. He smiled. Oh how I'be missed seeing him smile in person. "It's okay," he said. "I would be glad to see me in person after fifteen years too."
I chuckled. "Shut up."
"Okay, okay~"
I smiled and hugged him again, my arms around his waist and face in his chest. "I'm just so glad to see you not on a phone or computer screen."
I felt Jin's fingers running through my hair. "Honestly, me too. It's been a rough decade and a half without my best friend, but I made it. And it was definitely worth the wait." I blushed.
"Aw, Jin..."
"If you cry, I'm gonna smack you out of love."
"Okay."
"I love you, Y/N."
"I love you too."
"Thank you for being in my life."
"No, thank you for being in my life."
