#4 - Reasons

Also a little warning that I somehow mentioned self-harmed in this story but only briefly so I hope none of you would get triggered by it. Read at your own consequences~

It's been 5 months since Kaito broke up with Shinichi, which reason was still unknown to the latter much to his confusion.

The blue eyed male tried not to dwell on the matter too much and focused on his current life, his studies as a student, his social life as a friend and his detective work as a- well, as a detective.

Shinichi sipped his coffee silently by his usual spot at the cafe by the university's canteen he usually goes to since they make good coffee for him.

This was the spot where Kaito and him would hang out and spent their time together as a 'date'. Nothing too fancy. Just simple and comforting.

Which is why Shinichi thinks that the cafe's coffee will always be on the second place in his preference.

Because the coffee was not the way Kaito usually make for him.

Shinichi shook his head as he caught himself thinking about Kaito again.

Ever since the sudden break up, Kaito avoided Shinichi like a plague. It was pretty obvious since he would make a quick u-turn whenever he saw Shinichi down the hall anywhere he goes.

He won't lie, but that hurt consumed him like how the symbiote named Venom consumed Eddie Brock in that movie Ran made him watch with her along with Sonoko and Sera.

He really thought they had something, you know? That sparks, it never died.

Those feelings..

Shinichi was sure Kaito love him- or well, loved now. He sighed softly, nursing his coffee silently.

I can't keep mopping like this. It's gonna affect my lifestyle soon.

The Beikan detective looked at his empty cup in dismay, battling with his inner demons whether he should ask for another cup or just pay and leave.

He decided to go with the second option since he didn't want to be scolded by Ran and Haibara for drinking his paradise too much.

He paid as said earlier before leaving with his hands inside his pocket hoodie.

He walked around the university ground silently, not knowing what to do in his 3 hours free period time since he already caught up with his assignments and extra works.

Then, Shinichi saw him.

The wild haired brunette that Shinichi could spot on anywhere. The indigo eyes that always gazed adoringly into Shinichi's own azure blue orbs.

He was scared to approach the other so he stayed still at his place, standing frozen there as Kaito laughed brightly with another male whom Shinichi recognised as Sasuko Rin.

The cowlick haired male watched as Kaito glowed with his bright smile. The smile that he usually aimed for Shinichi only.

Now that smile is not for him.

It's for another person.

Shinichi continued to watch, unable to look away from the scene in front of him, his heart continued to wilt and dried like a dead flower.

Eventually it crumbled to dust.

He couldn't bear to look anymore as Kaito leaned forward and gave Rin a peck on the lips.
