#14 - New Love

Edogawa Conan watched with longing as his childhood friend, Mouri Ran, was happily getting ready for her double date with Hondou Eisuke, Suzuki Sonoko and Makoto Kyogoku.

"I'll be back before dinner, otou-san! Take care Conan-kun! I'll buy you two something on my way back home!" Ran waved one last time with a bright smile before she left with Sonoko for the date.

"If anything happen, call us!" Kogoro yelled out to her. "I will!" she replied, voice getting further away from him.

It's been 2 months since Conan, or Kudo Shinichi, had told Ran to move on from him. He couldn't bear to see her getting hurt every single time he told her that he couldn't visit her.

In response, Ran thanked him and accepted Eisuke's confession. Thus, both of them started dating each other.

"I'll be going out for a while, occhan. I'm going to the park," Conan said to the infamous Sleeping Detective, Mouri Kogoro. "Don't be so late, brat. Ran would be worried," he said while shooing him out.

Conan nodded and left the Mouri Agency numbly, both his heart and his body. He couldn't think nor could he feel anything. He just felt numb, living without a purpose it seemed.

He walked towards his friends, Tsuburaya Mitsuhiko, Kojima Genta and Yoshida Ayumi, who were calling out his name quite loudly at the park except for Haibara Ai. It seemed like no one wanted him to be alone today.

He smiled coyly at them.

"What are you doing here? I thought you're all gathered at hakase's house?" Conan asked.

"We were bored so we went here instead! Besides, we heard that there's a magic show for kids today!" Mitsuhiko said excitedly.

Without any interest, Conan just smiled at them. "Let's go then."

"Haaaai~!" the three kids yelled loudly and started to walk off, talking about the magic show in loud voices, leaving Ai and Conan walking behind them.

"I finished the antidote," Ai suddenly said and Conan stopped walking to look at her in surprise. "Permanent?" he asked and she nodded in response.

"Oh.." he trailed off, feeling a little lost on what to say or do. Ai smiled a little at him. "I think you should take it still. Even though you let her go, you still have your life to go through. Finish high school, go to college, do your detective work," she said while ruffling his hair gently as they continued walking.

"You will have your parents back instead of them faking as your aunts and uncles. You have your best friend, Hattori Heiji. About the kids, you don't have to worry. I think they would accept you still into the group even if it feels a little different."

Conan sighed and nodded. "I guess.. I just never felt so lost before.." he trailed off as he stared ahead of him.

Kaitou KID.

No, not Kaitou KID, Conan thought with a hint of shock. Kaitou KID's civilian person. He looked at the joyous grin the teenager emitted as he did the tricks for the children at the park happily without a care.

"Is that Kaitou KID?" Ai asked, making Conan grinned a little amusedly, eyes sparkling just the slightest bit. Detective she may not be but she was a genius like himself.

He approached the magician with a dull smile. "That's not magic. That's just an illusion," he said with a raised eyebrow.

Unamused sapphire blue orbs clashed with the mischievous indigo orbs. Sparks flew around them both as they grinned at each other.

"Conan-kun!" he suddenly gasped and went to hug the smaller tightly, holding him against his chest. "How are you?" he asked.

"I'm fine, nii-san. Are you?" Conan asked and the moonlight thief beamed in satisfaction.
