#22 - Pining

Kudo Shinichi were invited to Suzuki's Party a few days ago at a very fancy and most likely expensive balloon plane along with Mouri Ran, Mouri Kogoro and Kisaki Eri. Agasa hakase and the kids had gone with him as well because he was allowed to bring more people.

The more the merrier, they said.

At some point on the evening flight to Osaka, he had met his parents too surprisingly. Said that they, too, were invited to the Party by Jirokichi.

It was quite a formal party that he attended. Some of the famous highly ranked people in the community attended as well, a few of them recognised him and started a conversation with him.

"So you are still single, I heard? No one really caught your attention, brilliant detective?" asked a man with a teasing look.

Blush colouring his cheeks, he shook his head with a sheepish smile. "Well, I wouldn't say no one caught my attention. Someone actually did but for now we're just.. mutual friends."

"Oh? Who might that be?"

Hahahaha.. Like I'd ever tell you that my attention is solely on Kaitou KID, Shinichi thought.

"It's a secret, Juoka-san. I can't tell you or else it wouldn't be a secret anymore now, does it? It's a very private and confidential matter in fact," he said with a grin.

The man just chuckled softly and patted his back. "I hope you and that person would have a great future together."

Pleasantly surprised by the genuine tone, the blue eyed male couldn't help but beamed, acting more like most students his age. "Thank you!"

Shinichi felt tired after having to talk and keep on talking with everyone that approached him. He just wanted to sit down and read a book all by himself on his own, dammit.

"Shinichi!" Ran called for him when he was about to walk away, beckoning him closer. "There's someone I want you to meet!"

Sighing at his backfired plan to escape, he walked towards her and three other new faces with her along with Sonoko.

The karate champion smiled happily when he got there. "I want you to meet my new friends. This is Nakamori Aoko, Hakuba Saguru and Kuroba Kaito. These are the people I told you about the other day. Guys, this is Kudo Shinichi. He's my childhood friend."

Giving a polite smile, he bowed slightly. "Nice to meet you. Are you, if I'm not mistaken, Nakamori Ginzo's daughter?"

"Ah yeah! That's Aoko's dad," she said with a wide smile.

"Pleasure to meet you, Kudo-kun. I heard from Mouri-chan that you're a fanatic of Holmes?" Saguru asked with a passionate glint in his eyes.

"I am. I have every book of Sherlock Holmes in my library. Maybe you should come over to my house and we can talk about more about it," he said and Saguru looked delighted. "Of course! If you don't mind having me over, that is."

"Ugh, again about Holmes. Why can't you talk about Arséné Lupin more? He's much better than than your Holmes," Kaito said with a displeased frown. "By the way, nice to meet you, Kudo-kun. Amateur magician Kuroba Kaito," he added.

The wild haired male held out a hand before flicking his wrist to reveal a blue rose. "For you."

With a raised eyebrow, he took the flower gently. Is it just me or this guy is actually the Kaitou KID? Same body build and he can also do magic.. "Thank you," he said as he sniffed the flower slightly. Huh.. Seems like Kuroba-kun grew it himself.
