#3 - Boyfriends

Shinichi sighed, looking out of the window, out to the streets. He watched as various people with different professions passed by the Poirot café.

The coffee in his hand sat still. He frowned as he took a sip from it. Mind blank, surprisingly.

"Meitantei? Is that you?" called a familiar voice, soft and alluring.

Shinichi was brought out of his empty; echoing mind and to the person who took a seat in front of him.

"Kaitou KID?" Shinichi signed.

The phantom thief smiled for a while. "Ex-Kaitou KID." He frowned, slightly worried. "What happened to your voice? Are you suddenly mute when you returned back to normal?"

Shinichi grinned widely and shook his head. "No. I'm not mute. I just have a sore throat. Haibara said not to use my throat too much. If not, I'm gonna really lose my voice."

The magician sighed, finally relaxed. "I was worried for a moment there, Meitantei. Do you have any plans for the entire day today and tomorrow by the way, Meitantei?"

Shinichi blushed lightly at the concern laced in his voice. It makes him feel warm and his heart fluttered incredibly, making him slightly breathless.

He shook his head in denial. "Ran is out on a date with Hondou Eisuke. The Shounen Tantei are camping with hakase. Hattori is in Osaka still for a visit to his parents and Touyama-san."

KID mulled the facts inside his head. "Is that so? Then, I was wondering if you could be my date for tomorrow? My best friend, Aoko, had been trying to set me up with someone for months but I told her that I'm already dating someone else and she told me that she wanted to see who that person is."

Shinichi's face turned bright red. "W-Why me?"

The wild haired smiled. "I'm Kuroba Kaito, amateur magician by the way. Aoko and Hakuba knows I'm not someone who can be interested in someone so easily. Since your mind could rival mind, I'm sure they would believe me. I hope you don't mind me calling you by your real name, Shin-chan."

"Hakuba as in Hakuba Saguru?"

"Yes."

Shinichi looked down, smiling shyly. "Okay then, I'll be your date for today and-" he signed before shyly speaking. "Of course you can call me by my name," he whispered softly, trying not to agitate his throat so much.

Kaito smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Shin-chan."

Shinichi looked away, feeling slightly embarrassed and nodded a little. "No problem."

Kaito snapped his finger and handed him a blue rose. "For my favourite detective," he said gently. "Thanks.." Shinichi took the rose, taking notes of the rose silently.

Thornless rose means love at the first sight.

Shinichi gasped, putting down the rose gently and looked at Kaito with disbelief.

"A-Are you r-really-"

Kaito looked at him, face masked with calmness but Shinichi can see the slight twitch of his finger, showing signs that he's nervous.

Shinichi held his hand lightly and squeezing it before signing very fast. "I'm not rejecting you.. But give me time. Is that okay with you? I'm sure I'll accept you.. I just need time to prepare myself to be in a relationship with someone."
