Shinichi knew he messed up real big this time when he noticed his phone beeped a message, distracting him from the crime scene as he went to check it.

When he read through the messages, he felt his stomach dropped as his body dropped a few temperature down as he stared at the messages in horror.

7 messages and 10 missed calls, he thought with a sad smile. I really don't deserve you, Kaito. You deserve better than this..

It was supposed to be his anniversary date with Kaito but he forgot. He straight up forgot about the date like the horrible boyfriend he was.

He let out a frustrated sigh, leaving the crime scene without letting anyone know or replied to Kaito as he ran without stopping all the way to Poirot Café with a heavy heart.

When he saw the shop at a distance, he haltered, standing there with a forlorn expression before squatting down. He covered his face with his hand in anger. Angry towards himself for neglecting Kaito and messed up their dates on repeat.

Suddenly, a familiar hand ran through his hair comfortingly.

Shinichi froze and lifted his head, removing his hands from his face as he saw the concerned pair of indigo orbs looking right at him.

"Are you alright, darling?" Kaito asked softly as he squatted down in front of the blue eyed male, caressing Shinichi's cheek gently.

"I'm sorry," was all Shinichi said in a weak voice.

Kaito softened and leaned their foreheads together. "It's okay, Shin-chan. I'm not mad. I was more worried than upset, love. I packed your favourite, lemon cheesecake."

The magician smiled, showing the plastic bag in his hand. "I was leaving because it was closing time. Thought that I should go and find you."

The Heisei Holmes felt his heart dropped before pulling away from his counterpart. "I really don't deserve you, Kai.." he said with guilt. "I barely remembered my birthday. I forgot your birthday and now I forgot our anniversary because I stumbled into a crime scene-"

Shinichi's lips were shut by Kaito's palm, muffling his words. The latter gave him a sad look that sent a few knives to the former's heart.

"Shinichi," he murmured audibly. "Darling, I don't care about that. I don't mind not celebrating. I just wanted to see you and that's what matters. I know how you get when you're in a crime scene, darling and I don't mind you forgetting our dates. As long as I know you're okay, then that's enough for me."

"Tou-san said you're exactly like kaa-san," Shinichi said in a helpless voice. "Deserve so much more but settled for someone that could only give within capacity," he explained.

Kaito chuckled as he stood up, dragging Shinichi along with him and pulled him in a tight hug. "My love, I chose you because I know that you're everything I ever needed. Same goes to your kaa-san. She chose him as her husband, to spend her lifetime with him, despite everything because she loves him. Like I love you," he said.

"I love you. You love me. Nothing else matters. All of that comes in second place. I know how guilty you felt every time you forgotten our dates so that's enough for me to forgive you if ever I got mad."

Shinichi leaned his head on Kaito's warm palm that was placed on his cheek with a sigh. "You're amazing and I wonder how I ever get someone like you."

Kaito laughed softly and walked hand in hand with Shinichi towards the detective's house. "You can never find someone as amazing as me," he said with an overfed amount of confidence.

"Now let's go home and put on your favourite Detective Samonji while we eat our cake. I'll make you coffee and then we can cuddle on the couch. If we have remaining energy, I'll help you out with your cold case files," he said and Shinichi stared at Kaito as if he wanted to marry him right there and then.

"I love you," Shinichi said. "Please marry me," he added, confirming Kaito's previous thoughts.

Blushing so hard, Kaito let out a smirk to cover up his fallen poker face. "I'll agree to marry you if you ask me again while we go on that triple date at the amusement park next week. Make sure to have the ring, Meitantei and make your proposal grand. I want everyone to know that the infamous tantei is going to marry me."

"Anything for my Angel," Shinichi said with a smile.

On the next week, Shinichi really did proposed to Kaito with a beautiful silver ring that has encryption that wrote 'The Beauty' on the inner side.

Shinichi's ring wrote as 'The Beast'. Kaito loved the story because it slightly reminded him of their relationship so Shinichi thought why not.

He proposed to him, reciting a very lovesick paragraph about his love for the other in the middle of the crowded place at the amusement park.

He snapped his fingers and Kaito's flocks of bird helped out, flying in circles above them while raining rose petals upon them.

The petals that fell was formed into a big heart shape with Shinichi and Kaito standing inside of it.

The indigo eyed male covered his mouth, bursting into happy tears from the moment the cowlick haired male was reciting his paragraphs, not knowing that Shinichi prepared so much for him even though he was only joking around the other day.

"So, Kuroba Kaito.. Will you do the honour of marrying me?"

Kaito couldn't keep down his happiness before nodding. "Yes, Shinichi. A million times yes."

The Heisei Lupin threw himself into his arms, sobbing in joy. Shinichi immediately wrapped his arms around his fiancé tightly. Everyone surrounding them that watched were clapping and cheering excitedly.

The elder pulled away slightly and slid the ring to Kaito's ring finger before pulling him to a sweet and passionate kiss that had people howling with cheers.

"I love you, my angel."
