#7 - Shrunk

Kaito wasn't sure what had happened to him but suddenly when he woke up he was shrunk and utterly confused at the place he's staying at, which is not his house or one of his hideouts.

He remembered his heist yesterday and it was almost successful until he was suddenly knocked out and that's all he could remember.

"Oi, KID," Conan said, who Kaito had just noticed his existence, with a deadpanned look with a small pinch of sadness.

"I know you're trying not to panic but you're at my house right now. I hope you know what happened to you by now since you've been staring at the wall for 10 minutes straight without moving."

Kaito closes his eyes for a while before opening them and shot Conan with a terrified look.

The latter's expression softened as he sat at the edge of the bed, placing a comforting hand on Kaito's own hand.

"I get that you're scared since this happened so suddenly to you but you have to listen to me first. Me and Haibara-" he beckoned at the serious looking blonde girl by the door. "-doesn't have a permanent cure to turn both of us back to adults. So you have to stay with me all the time to keep you safe. It seems like whoever was targetting you at your heist gave you the pill I was given to kill you. Turns out you're one of the 0.01% too."

Kaito's eyes was wet and he clutched onto Conan's hand tightly, not knowing what to say and where to start. He was just in shock and utterly speechless at the moment.

"No one can know about this except for your trusted one. I'm sure your mom and assistant knew about you being KID, right? No one else knew?" the spectacle wearing child asked softly, holding a phone out.

Kaito shook his head to clear out his messy thoughts as he took the phone that was given to him with shaky hands.

He opted to call his mom first.

"Kaito! Is that you?! I was absolutely worried! Jii told me you weren't home after your heist and you've been gone for almost a week! Aoko and Saguru called me worrying about you!" Chikage ranted as soon as she answered the call.

"Okaa-san," Kaito croaked out. "I'm fine. I'm just staying at a-" he glanced quickly at Conan's concerned face. "-close friend. He's helping me out with something. I can't tell you entirely what happened over the phone, kaa-san. If you're in Japan, come and meet me at Kudo's resident."

"Kudo resident? Are you with Shinichi-kun? Are his parents with him? What's going on, Kaito?"

Kaito smiled gently, appreciating, as Conan squeezed his hand as a sign of courage.

"Ah.. His parents aren't here, okaa-san. It's easier to tell you if you're here in front of me, okaa-san. If you can, tell Jii-san not to worry about me! Thanks, bye!"

He let out a shuddering breath as soon as he ended the call, wanting to do nothing but cry.

Conan hugged him with a blank expression but Kaito knew he was worried for his well-being. He hugged back gratefully.

"Kudo-kun," Haibara started with a serious frown.

Conan nodded in understanding towards her. "Alright."

"So, I'm going to explain to you what you're going to do. You need to do whatever I tell you to, okay? One wrong move and you could put yourself and everyone around you in danger, including me and my own friends," the cowlicked haired male said. "Do you get what I'm saying?"

Kaito nodded silently in understanding how serious this matter is to the three of them.

"First, we need to make your documents and Haibara will help you with that. We'll think of a story as a cover up."
