"why don't you care about my opinion here kelly?" you say, frustration seeping into your voice

"because this shouldn't concern you. it's my life, who I date is my business not yours" he snaps

"it is if you come to me every time she breaks up with you and then calls the next day to get back together. why can't you see she's just stringing you along?!?" you yell

"i can't have this argument with you again. just go" he sighs as he runs his hand through his hair

"kelly.." you start but he enters his bedroom and slams the door shut

you walk out of his apartment and sit in your car. you saw you had a text from Jay

hey babe, voight let us go home early tonight. see you home, i love you

you respond, okay i love you too

as you're driving, frustration tears start blurring your vision. you knew you should have pulled over, but before you could you're being plunged into the dark cold water. unknowingly to you, jay's route home made it so he was driving right behind you and he saw the whole thing.

he immediately calls 911, but he also calls kelly since he would probably be there faster than the ambulance.

jay jumps into the water and gets the door open. he's able to take off your seatbelt and carries you to the surface. kelly breathes a sigh of relief when he sees you, but his face goes somber when he sees how pale you are. kelly helps jay get you out of the water and sets you on the ground.

jay scans you over, "she's not breathing" he panics. he then starts doing chest compressions.

"c'mon y/n you have to be ok" kelly says as he holds your hand while jay continues cpr.

"her chest is rising, let's get her to med" jay says with tears in his eyes as he picks you up and carries you to his car, then turning on his sirens

jay drives while kelly sits in the backseat with you. he covers you with the blankets that were on the seat and goes back to holding your hand. "that can't be the last conversation i have with you" he says as tears gather in his eyes

~~
jay and kelly were waiting in the emergency room. jay started pacing back and forth anxiously

"i just don't understand, she's the safest driver i know. how..?" jay mumbles under his breath

"we got into an argument right before she left my place" kelly hesitates as he stands up.

jay freezes, at that moment he feels the anger bubble up inside him. kelly and jay both know how sensitive you can be and how you crying is a response to any strong emotion.

"how was she when she left?" jay asks, trying to remain calm

"i um, i don't actually know. i told her to leave and then i went into my room" kelly stammers

"you told her, or you shouted at her" jay accuses

jay takes kelly's silence as the latter. without thinking, he slams kelly against the wall by the collar of his jacket.

"this is all your fault!" jay yells. "if you hadn't shouted at her, she never would have gotten in her car hurt, that's probably why she crashed" kelly doesn't respond. there isn't anything he could say to defend himself because he was thinking the same thing. it's his fault

kelly just lets jay scream at him, let his anger out on him. after a few more minutes of yelling, jay's anger turns to sadness as he lets kelly go and sits down on the chair. kelly cautiously sits next next to him

"she's gonna be okay, she has to be" jay murmured the last part to himself as he covers his face with his hands

at that moment Will comes out and kelly and jay rush up to him. "how is she?" asks kelly

Will takes a deep breath, "i'm sorry, she's in a coma"

and just like that both of their worlds shatter
