Harry and Louis had been in a relationship for 3 weeks now, and it was going pretty well in Louis' opinion.
The only thing that wasn't going well though, was the fact that Tori still hadn't warm up to Harry, and it was making Louis a little nervous.
He couldn't understand why she didn't like him, because Harry was always so nice to her; he had even given her little treats a few times, but still nothing.
"Lou, it's obvious she's jealous" Jay told him that Saturday afternoon.
"Why would she be jealous?" Louis asked.
"Because she had never seen you have a boyfriend before, so this is new to her, and she sees Harry as someone who's going to take you away from her" Jay explained "She's very territorial with you, haven't you ever noticed?".
"Not really" Louis answered, and bit her lip "Do you think that if I explain to her that she's always my number one and that Harry's not here to steal me away from her, that she'd understand? Or is she too little?".
"She understands more than you think, Lou" Jay told him.
"I just really want her to like him" Louis sighed "Maybe I should plan like an outing for just the 3 of us, so they can get to know each other".
"Maybe you shouldn't push it so much" Jay offered.
"I'm not pushing it, I just want my boyfriend and my daughter to get along".
"Lou, do you remember that friend you had in preschool? Jackson?" Jay asked.
"Yeah, I remember him, he came to the house all the time" Louis said reminiscing "What about him?".
"Do you remember his mum?".
"Not really" Louis said trying to remember.
"Well, her name was Vanessa, she was a young single mum, and Jackson's father was completely out of the picture, so she worked long hours, that's why I always offered to take him home with us for play dates, and you liked the company of another kid, so it worked in everyone's favor" Jay explained.
"Okay, but what does that have to do with anything?" Louis asked confused.
"I remember once we were talking about her love life, and she said she had a boyfriend, and that she's had it for 6 months or so, so I asked how he was with Jackson, and you know what she said?".
"What?" Louis asked, sensing where this conversation was going.
"That her boyfriend hadn't met Jackson yet, and he wouldn't meet him until she was sure he was there for the long run; she didn't see a point in bringing someone to her son's life if he wasn't going to stay" Jay explained "Eventually that boyfriend proposed to her, and she finally introduced him to Jackson, then after they got married, they moved to York and they lived happily ever after".
"So are you saying Harry shouldn't be in Tori's life until he proposes to me?" Louis scoffed, thinking that was ridiculous, they were 17!
"No, honey" Jay chucked "It just means that you've only been dating for 2 weeks, and-"
"3 weeks" Louis corrected.
"Alright, 3 weeks" Jay nodded "But 3 weeks is a very short time, love, and you're only 17, so do think it's a good idea to push Tori into liking a person that just got into your life and might not be in it for the lung run?".
"I don't know, mum, I've never been in this situation before" Louis shrugged, and bit his lip before he spoke again "But I think I'm in love with him, and I want him to be in my life completely, and that includes Tori".
