I laid across the bed and talked to Dave on FaceTime.

"I miss you." I poked my lip out

"I miss you too mamas."

"Where you at?"

"The studio. You should come chill with me."

"You know I can't leave." I rolled over in bed

"Tell ya parents I called you last minute and needed you to watch Kai." Smoke escaped his mouth.

"You trying to get me killed huh?" I joked

"Nah, just tell em and see. If you can't, I understand. It's no pressure baby."

I sighed and sat up. "Hold on." I put my phone down

I left out of my bedroom and walked downstairs. My mom was laying across my dad as they watched a movie.

"Sooo..." I trailed off and sat across from them.

They both looked at me, waiting for me to say something.

"Dave needs me to come and watch Kairi for him. He has a last minute appearance to do."

"What time is it?" My mom asked.

"8:39"

"And you think you're about to go all the way across the bridge at this time of night?" She sat up.

"Mel, Chill out." My dad spoke. "She's mature enough to handle herself. You can't baby them forever."

She looked at me then at my dad and nodded. "Ok. Fine. Do what you want." She threw her hands up.

"I'm not saying that either." My dad shook his head. "I'm just saying, loosen up. That is her job and we both agreed to it."

"Ok James, it's just late."

"Well I'm sure he has a guest room for her to sleep in if it gets too late. Chill out." He kissed her cheek

My mom smiled and playfully rolled her eyes. "Fine. You can go. Be careful."

"Thank you." I smiled and went back upstairs.

Dave was still on FaceTime but music was playing. Before I picked my phone up, I watched him. I noticed that he looked down every so often to see if I was back and that made me smile.

"I'm back." I picked my phone up

"What they say?"

"They letting me leave. Send me the address."

"Aight. I'll see you soon." The call ended

I put on my slides and pulled on a hoodie before leaving out of my room.
