I watched Kairi run around the living room as I fixed our breakfast. Her birthday was last month and you would think she turned 13 instead of 3.
"Come on Kai. Come eat before we go." I sat her plate on her Paw Patrol table and fixed her a cup of juice.
I ate my food while I loaded the dishwasher and wiped down the counters.
"Your food is in the microwave." I looked over at Dave as he made his way into the kitchen.
"Thank you baby." He kissed my cheek then grabbed his food.
We decided to spend time together today. Dave cleared his schedule so he has no interruptions. We are taking Kairi to Urban Air. I'm sure she'll love it since she likes to jump on the couch and beds here.
The kitchen was now clean and I was ready to go.
I pulled my hair up into a ponytail while I looked at myself in the hallway mirror.
"Stay just like that." Dave spoke
"What?" I laughed because I just knew I was looking crazy
His camera flash went off and he slid his phone in his pocket. "Got it."
"Got it? Let me see."
"Nah." He shook his head.
"Stop playing." I reached for his pocket but he stepped back. "You are so difficult." I shook my head. "Come here Kai. Let me put your shoes on." I sat on the living room couch.
"Ok, ok. Here." He held his phone in front of my face so I could see the picture.

"I guess thats cute." I laughed
"See that's why I never show you anything." He stuck his tongue out.
"Whatever." I waved him off.
After I got Kairi shoes on, Dave was done with his food and we were ready to leave. He carried Kai to the car and strapped her in her seat. I climbed into the passenger side and put my seatbelt on. Urban Air was about 45 minutes away from the house so we had a good ride ahead of us.
Dave turned on his oldies and sung along as he drove. I caught Kairi vibing out in the back as she looked out the window.
Dave pulled into the parking lot and hopped out. He opened my door before getting Kai out. I held her hand and we walked to the entrance. Her little face lit up once she realized all that she could do.
"I go now!" She pried my hand off hers and took off running.
"I got her." Dave handed me his card and took off behind her
I paid for everyone and got socks for Kai and Dave to jump.
"Come here. You gotta put these socks on before you jump." I approached Kairi, who was pouting because she couldn't jump.
She kicked her shoes off and I put the socks on. I handed Dave a pair and he put them on. I watched as they jumped around. Dave picked her up and threw her into the foam pit.
"Be careful!" I yelled at him
"She good!" He picked her up by her shorts and she was laughing.
"Again!" She managed to get out between laughs
She climbed out of the foam pit and took off towards the slides. She raced Dave up to the top and slid down into a ball pit.
I let her and Dave play while I went through emails on my phone.
I felt her little hand tapping my leg. "Ma. Ma. Ma. You sawed me? Mommy." She huffed and stood directly in front of me
I sat there stuck. "I saw you baby but you know I'm not your mommy right?"
"You are!" She smiled. "I have two mommies!" She struggled to hold up 2 fingers but finally got it. "You my mommy and mommy is my mommy. Ok bye!" She ran off again
I made a mental note to talk to Dave and Crystal about that later. I don't want no one to feel any kind of way.
I looked up and it seemed like Dave was having more fun than Kairi. I watched her jump around again and I smiled because I know she's gonna be worn out and sleep good soon as she gets out the tub tonight.
9:45 PM
I laid on the bed and talked to Crystal on facetime. Kairi was in bed sleeping and Dave was downstairs cleaning up.

"You get on my nerves being so damn gorgeous." Crystal rolled her eyes
"Oh whatever." I laughed. "You act like you aren't beautiful too. Stop it."
"I been seeing you out here in these magazines and stores. You doing your thing."
"Thank you." I smiled. "How is it out there?"
"It's so beautiful. The vibes are amazing. I love it. I'm waiting for ya'll to come visit. You know you can stay with me cause these hotels are high as fuck."
"I'm have to tell Dave and see what he says. You know him."
"Girl don't I." She shook her head. "A pain in the ass. His big ass head."
"Girl yes! Head big as hell. That's my baby though."
"Ya'll ain't gon be in here talking about me like that." Dave sat on the bed behind me.
"I called to talk to Kayla. Not you. Bye." Crystal laughed
He shook his head and got up. "I can't believe this shit." He laughed and walked out.
"So," i changed positions in the bed. "I need to talk to you about something."
"Wassup?" She sat the phone down and unwrapped the towel from her head.
"Kairi called me mommy today."
"Aw. She did?"
"Yeah. I don't know how to feel about it."
Crystal sighed and sat there a moment. "Honestly, when I first met you, I wanted Dave to fire you on the spot. I was still stuck on him and thinking we would get back together. But as time went on I saw that we wouldn't and I moved on. I see how you interact with her and you really do treat her like she's yours so I'm not surprised she called you that. And at the end of the day, I'm not mad at it. You've been in her life since she was 1. She saw you just as much as she saw me. And between me and you, you're doing a great job raising her and I don't think you and Dave will break up so you're going to be there regardless. She's a smart girl and I guess she felt comfortable. Did you tell Dave?"
"That means so much coming from you. And no I wanted to talk to you first."
"Well girl, I don't mind it. We might as well be one big happy, blended, family." She laughed.
