*Adri's POV*
I don't like games.
I was getting pretty annoyed at the fact that no one knew where Braiden was, but I wasn't about to let that surface onto my facial expressions.
"I found him!" Dani chirped from behind me. I turned around and there he was. Standing statuesque and beautifully. Finally. I got to see who I came here for.
"Hey," I said nonchalantly, "good to see you." keeping my cool seemed like the best thing to do, but something seemed off about him. Did he not want to see me?
He half smiled but it seemed as if he was somewhere else, "Good to see you too."
"well I'm gonna let you two talk, Connor, Riley, we should probably find out where we are going for dinner after this. Kay?" Dani said. Something was up for sure. Otherwise she would be talking up a storm about how perfect everything is. She took Connors hand and the three of them headed off, leaving Braiden and I to stand in silence. Alone.
He stuck his hand in his pockets and looked at the floor, "are you okay?" I mumbled. What was I supposed to do?
He let out a long sigh and said no. He was not okay.
I proceeded to ask him what happened. He opened up and told me that Tayler broke up with him. How ironic? I had been informed that he was going to break up with her, yet, I didn't understand why he was so upset about it. Could it have been because she beat him to it?
There must've been more to the story than he let me know.
"she thought I cheated on her." he said, and I had no idea how to react. I wonder if he had mentioned me, or anyone for the fact, or maybe she found out and heard all the wrong things. I noticed the discouragement in his eyes. I found myself reaching for his hand and I held it.
"I'm so sorry." I had never been in this sort of situation before and there's no handbooks on these things either.
"It's okay. I was going to end it anyways. It just didn't happen the way I waned it to, but most things don't turn out that way." he squeezed my hand and I felt a rush of excitement as he did.
"That's true... The world works in mysterious ways." I read that in a fortune cookie once, it seemed like a good fit for what it's worth. That's when he looked me dead in the eye.
"You're right. And I have to let it go because life doesn't just go by. You have to make it happen. So I shouldn't even be sitting here moping over something I know I didn't do so you know what? I'm gonna-"
And that's when I interrupted him. I stopped him from babbling on about making life happen. So I put his words of wisdom to use and made life happen. I pulled his face into mine and kissed him deeply.
I wasn't sure if it was the best thing to do in that particular moment. But I was sure that he kissed me back.
That's all I could ask for.
