You Never Mentioned...

When I initially woke up... I didn't know where I was. I noticed I was wearing the same clothes I had been wearing the night before then looked at the clock on the nightstand and saw that it was 10:00 in the morning. I sat up and looked around the room until I realized where I was. I heard a soft knock at the door.

"It's open..." I said as I quickly tamed my hair. Mrs. McDonough walked in the room smiling sweetly at me.

"Good morning sweetie," she was so nice to me whenever I was around. And if Riley was going somewhere and she knew I was going, she'd say yes. "I know how you are about wearing the same outfit twice so I found a pair if leggings that don't fit me anymore and a few tops that might fit you." She placed a small stack of clothes at the foot of my bed, "and under the sink in the bathroom there should be a pack of new toothbrushes and the towels are in the linen closet across from Connors room."

"Thanks Mrs. McDonough but you didn't have to I was just gonna be on my way out, I'm sure you want to spend some time with your boys." She was so nice and sometimes she does so much for me and I don't even know how to repay her.

"No no, it's fine! I am working on making breakfast and I would love for you to stay. Then we can talk about the agenda! But let me know if you need anything!" She started walking out then turned around, "oh and I think Riley has your phone. It's charging in his room and its on the desk if you need it!" She walked out and closed the door behind her. I started looking through the clothes and tried to see which shirt would match the shoes I was wearing the night before. Thankfully I had my black combat boots so I grabbed the leggings, boots, and a cute baggy purple sweater. Thank goodness that Mrs. M already knew my style.

I grabbed the clothes and walked over to the linen closet and got a towel. After showering and getting dressed, I snuck into Riley's room to retrieve my phone and let Adri know I was alive.

"Pssst..." I heard from behind me and froze for a second before turning around and seeing Connor leaning against the door frame, half smiling. "Morning..."

I unplugged my phone and lightly smiled back at him, "Good morning..." I quickly texted Adri and let her know what was going on.

"So you had a sleep over with my brother and didn't invite me? Damn... That hurts..." He said jokingly, but it made me upset. He shouldn't be the one to talk about pain. That was low. Now time for some payback.

"Well this sleepover was only meant for two people. Besides, you would've been left out anyways..." I crossed my arms and smirked and he looked at me curiously.

"Wait so you and Riley....?" He started but I knew what he meant. I just find it great how he was taking this seriously.

"Yupp! And then I snuck over to the guest room. Anymore questions about my eventful night?!"

"Um... No..." He said, obviously uncomfortable.

I started to walk out and as I passed by him I let out a small laugh, "gotcha!"

"Dammit!" He said as he followed me downstairs.

"Good morning!" Riley chirped as he came towards me and hugged me.

"Morning, Riley!" I hugged him back and he kissed me on the cheek. We walked into the dining room and ruffled Toby'a tamed hair, "Good Morning, kiddo!"

He swatted away my hand and fixed his hair, "way to mess up my hair!" He said half annoyed, "but good morning to you too, Dani!" Riley pulled out a chair for me and waited for me to sit before he sat down next to me. "Since when were you a gentleman Ri?!"

"Ever since you started being annoying. Which was a long time ago!"

Connor sat down across from me and Mrs. M brought out breakfast. She made French toast, bacon, eggs, and brought some fruit. "Thanks so much for everything Mrs. M, oh and this sweater is so comfy too!"

She placed the food in front of us and smiled when she sat down, "oh no problem, sweetie. You're like family! And that sweater looks good on you." It made me so happy to know that she feels that way about me. My mom hasn't been around much lately because she travels a lot doing photography for National Geographic, it's nice to know that someone else cares. "You're like the daughter I never had."

"Well then I guess it's safe to call her your mom, Dani! I'm sure she's praying that you and Riley get married to make it official." Toby half joked.

"I'm sorry but Dani and I aren't getting married..." Riley said, trying to swallow his food.

"Yeah... Not gonna happen..." I said awkwardly, taking a huge sip of coffee.

"Now I never said that you had to marry Riley!" Mrs. M protested.

"Well then I guess you have to redeem yourself Connor!"

Connor shot him a stern look and didn't say anything. "You know what, I might as well call you Mama Joan!" I said trying to lift the awkwardness.

"Fine by me, hunn!"

"So where's dad then?" Riley asked.

"He had to head out early and take care of something for the party I started planning last night!" Mama Joan said.

"Party?!" Toby exclaimed, on the edge of his seat.

"Well since tour is coming up I thought it'd be nice to throw a celebratory party for the band."

Tour. Did she just say tour? "Wait... Before You Exit is going on tour?" I managed to say after taking a big bite of French toast.

"Riley didn't tell you?" Connor questioned in a harsh tone. No. Obviously Riley didn't tell me about going on tour.

Riley looked at me and finally realized that he had never brought it up."Dani, I meant to tell you-"

"When'd you find out?" I accidentally cut him off mid sentence but I needed to know.

"Last week...I'm so sorry Dani. I meant to tell you last night, really, but I didn't wanna make you upset or anything."

"So instead you didn't tell me, but kissed me instead." That came out the wrong way.

"You sat on my lap!"

"You pulled me onto your lap after I kissed you on the cheek!"

"It's not like we've never kissed before."

"Riley, this has nothing to do with us kissing. It has to do with you not telling me about going on tour!"I didn't want to make it seem like I was being selfish because my best friend was leaving me. So I took a deep breath, "you should've told me when you found out... But in all honesty it has nothing to do with me. I'm proud of you. All of you." I reached for his hand and lightly smiled, "I also want to help with this party. I have a few ideas."

As things simmered down after breakfast, I helped Momma clean up and reached for my phone and texted Adri:

Me: Did Braiden tell you the news about BYE?

Adri: about going on tour? Yeah! He told me last week.:) why?

Me: oh... Well I just found out this morning.

Adri: Really?! I thought Riley would've told you already!

Me: I thought so too.

Guess some people are just full of surprises even after you get to know them...
