- Pre-Force Awakens.
Luke and Raina had finally married. They finally got their happy ending. No fears. No worries. They were prepared to face the future, together, head on along with whatever life threw at them, . . .
but...
Four months had passed since Ben's birth. Raina had frequently been going over to the palace to help Leia with the baby. She and Luke had also watched their nephew at the temple. Jaina had offered to watch him a few times as well. Ben was a very well behaved baby. He was also very strong with the Force. Both she and Luke could feel it.
Jacen had come back to the temple after his mission and continued training with the other students and with Raina personally. Over the last four months the countess had requested his services three times. It was very odd to say the least. She and Luke weren't sure about sending him, but couldn't exactly refuse. He would go to Dantooine for a week or so and come back. The countess made the excuse that she felt unsafe and wanted a Jedi around for a while.
To tell the truth Raina had started suspecting something. She would catch him using his holo, but could never hear who it was before he shut it off, saying he was watching lightsaber dueling stances. She wanted to believe it was just puppy love like she had said before but. . .there was something strange. She was probably just becoming paranoid like her husband. At the moment Jacen was actually on Dantooine.
One good thing that came out during all of this was that he and Jaina were starting to grow close. Almost like brother and sister. They were best friends after only five months.
Jaina was learning fast and growing strength in the Force. Luke trained her in the evenings after everyone had eaten dinner. Once she had found him in the meditation chapel with her. She was in full meditation as he coached her. Her levitation skills had gotten quite advanced.
It was Raina's birthday. She was twenty-four. Luke and Leia had both turned twenty-five a month before and Han had turned thirty-three four months before Raina's birthday.
As she walked through the temple the padawan wished her a happy birthday. That morning Luke had also wished her happy birthday with letter and a special breakfast in bed with a single Ithorian rose.
He had been gone for the past three days on a mission for the New Republic. As much as she hated that he was going to be gone for her birthday she understood that they both couldn't ignore their duties.
After class Raina went to her room to rest. When entering she found a note on the door.
It read: Happy Birthday! Come in to find a surprise!
Smiling, she walked inside. Everything looked normal, except on the mirror of her vanity there was another note attached. She pulled it off and read it.
Raina, I know the last few years have gone by fast. So fast that we never got to celebrate he birth of the most important person in my life. My best friend. My wife. You. I want to change that. I want you to remember this birthday so I have prepared a special surprise for you, but you cannot receive it until later tonight. I wish I could be there to see you receive it, but by the time you read this I will most likely be landing on Yavin. For right now I have a task for you. In your closet you will find a lagoon blue dress with pink Milla flowers and petals sewn into the skirt. Put it on and go to the main hall. Love you. - Luke
Raina went to her closest and found the dress that was described in the note. The dress was long and flowing. It had delicate mesh sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. It was beautiful. She put it on and felt like a princess. She pinned her hair up and put a Millaflower, left by Luke, in her bun.
