Dear Zayn,

You didn't come home again today. It didn't really surprise me, and I wasn't really expecting you to come home while I was out, but I left a note for you just in case you did. That note ended up in the trash, just like the ones I leave for you whenever I go out and you don't return.

Louis picked me up as he said he would, and we went to the local pet store. I had no idea what kind of pet I wanted, other than a cat or a dog. We looked for a long time at the dogs, there were so many! When you get back, we should go on a date to the pet store and just play with all the animals there. It'd be so neat to see all the doggies and kitties jump on you until you laugh. I've always loved seeing you play with animals.

After I looked at all the dogs, I decided that I probably wouldn't be the best owner for a dog. I don't do anything other than sit on the couch, eat sometimes, and go to therapy. I wouldn't be able to take the dog for a walk, or to even play with it all the time. So we went to cats.

At first, I didn't like any of the cats. None of them liked to cuddle, and I needed a cuddle buddy while you are gone. We looked and looked without any hope of a cuddly cat, until finally we found one. It was the cutest thing ever, Zayn, you'd love her.

She's got really pretty fur, it's the color of your eyes. It's even got some butterscotch colored fur on her paws and neck. And her eyes-you'd love them the best. She's got eyes just like mine, the bluest of blue. I fell in love with her right then and there, and decided to adopt her before I even found out whether she liked to cuddle. Luck for me, she did.

Louis and I then went to get supplies while one of the workers worked on getting her ready for me to adopt her. We picked out a bed (which I don't think she'll use very often) and some food and water bowls, which had goldfish on the sides. It was weird to shop with Louis because he didn't give his opinion to me at all, which I'm thankful for. And I may have accidently called him Zayn once or twice. Or even five times, but that doesn't matter. I was excited.

I signed the papers you needed in order to own the pet, and then we went home. I think I was bouncing in my seat the whole time, begging Louis to go faster. I haven't been that excited ever since you went missing, and I overheard Louis talking to Harry on the phone, saying how nice it was to see me like this. I'd be like this the whole time if you were here again. But you're not.

I leaped out of my seat before the car was even off, making a mad dash for the cage the cat was in, which was in the backseat. I nearly dropped the cage once or twice just trying to get it up the sidewalk and to the front door. But it was okay because the cat wasn't startled by it at all.

I had the cage open before Louis got in the house, carrying all the extra things needed in order to properly take care of the cat. The cat waltzed right out of her cage and straight at me, her blue eyes reminding me how it is to look into a mirror. She purred and rubbed against me as I scratched behind her ears, something I knew she would like. All cats like getting scratched there.

Louis let me play with her while he set up everything he had brought in. I haven't named the cat yet because I want your opinions on names. Is that okay? I sure hope so.

Anyway, the cat climbed into my lap and worked her way onto my shoulders before putting her soft paws on my head. I was giggling so much, she was so adorable! I just wish that you could have been there, you'd love her. Time really flew by because it was almost six after what seemed like just a few minutes. Louis helped me measure out how much cat food to feed her, then helped me carefully fill her water up. The cat must have been really hungry, because she started to chow her food as soon as I set it down.

Louis then made some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with me. We were both starving, and neither of us wanted to make anything better than that. Halfway through my third sandwich, the cat finished eating and climbed up my chair so she could sit in my lap. I scratched her head again as I made myself yet another sandwich. It really surprised me how hungry I was, but I guess that was because I've been getting a lot thinner than I've been in the past, due to the fact I don't eat much. See what you do to me? I'm so worried about you that I forget to take care of myself.

After we finished eating, I carried the cat to the couch and we both cuddled up together. I must've fallen asleep because when I woke up, the cat was gone, and a blanket had been placed over me. Louis left me a note, saying he had gone back home because he and Louis had a date yet. I found the cat in our bed, and she looked up at me when I came into the room.

She followed me out of the room and I took her to the couch again. We snuggled close and watched movies as we waited for you.

I love you, Zayn.

Sincerely,

Niall
