YURIO

The sway of the ship was starting to make me nauseous.  The sea was restless. I glanced to my only way out to see it still being blocked by another guard.

Otabek had left a while ago and this one replaced him. He was pale with hair as dark as the night sky. His dark eyes studied me with distaste and mistrust, and yet he never spoke.

I overheard Otabek call him Seung-Gil.

I folded my arms over my chest trying to get comfortable. I peered through half lidded eyes trying to rest and keep an eye on anyone who came too close.

I was tired and hungry and would need to feed soon. We would be arriving to Shipwreck Cove at sunset tomorrow. I didn't have much time left.

My eyes fluttered closed a moment before the ship lurched to the side. Had my basin not been bolted to the floor I would have surely tipped over. Water splashed out of the basin soaking the floor.

"What the Hell was that?" I wondered aloud cursing the small tub I was in as I rubbed my sore elbow.

I could hear shouts from above. Seung- Gil glanced above before sighing heavily. He cast me a dirty look to which I gave a very human hand gesture and he took off leaving me alone.

Perhaps with them all distracted I could use this time to escape?

I knew it was a stupid idea, but I had to try.

What can they do? Kill me? They are gonna do that anyway.

With new determination I grabbed the edges of the basin and hoisted myself up. I leaned over the edge placing my palms down flat onto the wood.

Now I just have to shimmy out.

I grunted realizing this was going to be harder than I thought.  I swore up and down cursing Poseidon for giving us tail fins.

A thunderous clap sounded a moment before the ship was hurled to the side knocking me out of the basin and onto the floor.

Rubbing my face where it had smacked into the wood I swore again.

"When I get out of here I'm going to kill Victor and Yuri and the little runt we rescued." I shook my fist.

I began to crawl on my belly getting wood splinters stuck in my skin and tail but I didn't care. I was reaching the exit if it killed me.

Another two simultaneous thunderous booms reverberated around the ship and I flinched shielding my face as wood shattered and flew out in a burst.

I peeked out from under my arm to see a giant hole in the side of the ship. It was big enough for me to squeeze through.

"Thank you Poseidon." I cheered crawling toward the hole.

I peered out of the hole noting other ships around us.

They are under attack.

Hoping they get what they deserve I began to crawl through the hole. Rain poured down on the angry sea below me, but I didn't care. I was ready to go home. To be free.

I could hear the shouts of men above as their battle raged on in the storm.

I shook my head and squeezed as much as I could and finally I was falling.

The cold water below was a welcome to my stiff and sore muscles.

I'm free! Ha! Take that you-

My victory was short lived as I noticed debris falling into the ocean and among it was familiar tan skin and dark hair.

Otabek.
