OTABEK
Everything hurts.
I really messed everything up.
Mother.
I'm so sorry. I-I tried.
"For the love of- oh thanks the gods you're finally awake. If you mumbled one more time I was gonna-" A harsh angry voice paused as I blinked my eyes open.
My first clear sight was of green eyes. They were sharp and daring, and beautiful.
I know those eyes.
"Y-Yurio?" I muttered.
"Of course who else would I be?" He snapped. His cheeks were flushed and worry was hidden behind his eyes. His tart remark had less bite when I noticed his shaking hands.
"W-where are we?" I asked trying to sit up. Yurio's trembling hands gently pushed me back onto the sand.
"We are in an air pocket. It's a small cavern beneath a large stone structure." He spoke matter of fact.
"How do we get out?" I asked.
"Swim." He gave me an obvious look.
I reciprocated his look.
"What?" He blushed quickly looking away.
"First, I can't swim. Second how long do you think I can hold my breath?" I asked raising my brows as I propped myself up on my elbows.
Yurio pursed his lips deep in thought.
"It isn't that long of a swim. You could make it on a single breath." He pouted folding his arms across his chest.
My eyes trailed down to his long glistening tail that dangled in the pool of water at the edge of the pocket.
"Why did you do it?" I asked through clenched teeth.
"Save your ass?" He quipped sarcastically.
I gave him a droll look before nodding anyway.
"You should have just let me drown. I'm one of the pirates that kidnapped you to be tortured. Why would you save me from drowning?" I asked.
His green eyes met mine steadily.
"Because I'm not a monster." He stated.
He's right. I had observed him from his time on our ship and never once did he strike me as a monster. I thought he was brash, brave and even a little -attractive, but never a monster.
"No you're not. Thank you, for saving my life." I spoke softly. Yurio's cheeks turned a bright shade of pink as he scoffed.
"Don't thank me yet. We still have to get you out of here." He smirked.
This was true. He said it wasn't a long swim, but by who's standards? He could breath underwater. I can't.
"Do you think we can make it?" I asked.
"Even if we did it is still a long swim to shipwreck cove." Yurio scratched his head.
"I don't suppose there was any debris from the attack." I mimicked his action and scratched my head as I sighed heavily.
On the one hand if I don't get to the surface I could starve down here, but there is no land around for miles so I wouldn't survive anyway. I could even drown in attempt to get to the surface.
I'm screwed. I'm gonna die here.
My eyes closed in defeat.
"No, there isn't anything useful." Yurio spoke solemnly.
