Heyo I'm sorry it took me awhile to update I gave myself a break because I've been going through a lot <3 I'm back now though and thank you for reading my book it means the absolute world to me. Even if I'm not a very good writer it gives me tremendous joy writing for you all 💖

Hikari now stood in front of the hokage. It had been three months since the incident with her team, they all fell back into their normal routine with a few added perks. Hikari kept her promise and tried her hardest to think about her friends. She was more driven as well. Her and Hikana have made peace with each other. Most importantly kakashi and her have been growing closer. When they aren't on missions they are even more inseparable than before.

"Lord fourth."

"I hope this isn't a bad time, but it's extremely urgent. Im sure you are well aware of the tension growing with lightning country."

"Yes."

He shifted in his seat and exhaled deeply "well they have made an offer. They will completely draw back if we send a elite ninja there to aid a politicians son in training."

She raised an eyebrow "for how long?"

"This is where it gets tricky. You see Hikari this is something only you can do, he asked specifically for you. If you refuse there is a good chance a war will break out. You know how they can be."

She swallowed the lump in her throat "but for how long."

"Eight years."

Hikari had to stop her knees from buckling. She bit her. "W-well uh.."

"I know this is sudden and unexpected. You have many things precious to you in the village but they will be waiting for you when you return. I understand how hard it is to leave your friends, loved ones, kakashi, and the home you've grown up in. But there are times when the right thing to do isn't the easiest."

She nodded and looked away "yeah... I'll do it. I'll do it if it means protecting the future of the people I care about."

He nodded.

"When do I leave?"

"Tomorrow."

She closed her eyes. It felt like the breath had been knocked out of her. In those few minutes her world had been changed. She couldn't help but wish for it to be last week again, when she had no idea of what was coming while she smiled along side kakashi.

He handed her a paper with everything she'd need to know and she nodded. Not hesitating she walked out the doors. Her stride began to get faster until she was running. She knew where she was going. It wasn't to kakashi, kushina, Hikana, Or any of them. Instead she found herself in front of sasuke's house.

As soon as mikoto opened the door she quickly stepped out and shut it behind her.

"Hikari what's wrong?" She lovingly ran her hands along her arms and pulled her into a hug.

"I.. I uh. I got this mission and I'm." Her voice trailed off and cracked. Tears now ran down her face.

Mikoto made comforting circles on her back "What is it?"

"I'm leaving for.. for e-eight years." She sobbed out the last part.

Itatchi must of heard the commotion because humans shisui opened the door.

"Mom?" He looked at Hikari "what's going on?"

She was never exactly close with shisui but they hung out a few times.

Hikari said nothing but held out the paper, when he took it and read the contents he looked at shisui. Once shisui read it he ran his fingers threw his hair.

Mikoto let her go.

"I'm so sorry hikari." Shisui handed it back to her. "It'll be alright. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but one day it'll be alright. You'll be back in no time and we will all welcome you back with open arms."

She covered her eyes. Her body trembled as she spoke "goddamnit what am I supposed to do about kakashi."

Shisui pulled her into a hug and itatchi put a hand on her back.
"I believe things will work out. It won't be easy but everything is always alright in the end. If it's not then it isn't the end."

Sasuke opened the door next.
"Mommy what's wrong with he-car-e?"
He grabbed onto his mother's leg and looked up at hikari with a confused expression.

She opened her eyes and looked at him. Tears flowed even more now and she reached down to put a hand on his cheek.

"It's alright Sasuke, I'm alright."

He wearily walked forward and buried his face in her hip.

"D-Don't cry Hikari.."

With her left hand she grabbed a fist full of shisui a shirt while wiping tears from sasuke's cheeks.

Itatchi picked his brother up and held him close.

"Hikari has to go away for awhile." Mikoto put a hand on her sons back.

"NoOoO!" Sasuke wailed out "She can't leave."

"She doesn't have a choice Sasuke, I'm sure she'd stay if she could."

He buried his head in his brothers neck "p-please don't go."

Itatchi passed Sasuke to Hikari and he grabbed a held a fistful of her hair as he cried.

"It's gonna be alright Sasuke, I'll be back before you know it."

She knew because he was so young the chances of him remembering her were slim, that seemed to hurt the most.

After a long time she knew she had to go. She said her goodbyes to mikoto and her family. Kissing Sasuke on the cheek as she left.

She looked around her surroundings like her life depended on it, not wanting to forget a single detail of the village.

Her friends were at the ramen shop, however kakashi wasn't there.

"Hey Hikari!" Obito had a big smile on his face as he flagged her down.

Hikana furrowed her brows "what's wrong?"

Run put her chopsticks down and walked towards her. Hikari covered her face and rin embraced her.

"What's wrong Hikari?"

"I got a mission and I have to leave for a long time."

Rin stroked her hair "well how long is it?"

Hikari nearly chocked on her words "eight years.."

Everyone got up and walked towards her. Minoris hand flew to her mouth.

"What? Why for so long?"

Once Hikari explained all the details to them they shared a group hug.

"we will be here waiting for you." Obito patted her head.

They invited her to eat but she declined the offer.

"Where is kakashi?"

"I know he finished training not too long ago, he might be at his house."

She nodded and took off.
