Minato called Hikari into his office early that morning.

Hikari blinked "with all due respect are you sure you want me to go on this mission."

"You're the best ninja for this job." Minato smiled at her

"But if I fail this could be really bad. I'm not from the intel unit I'm not sure I can be of much help."

He folded his hands together. " yes, but you have a special talent. It's perfect for this job. You will be traveling to the land of Earth. It's North-West of the land of fire. It's blocking the communications with other countries so it's very important we stay close allies with them. There is a king who is causing a lot of trouble for them, he's been tampering with trade and intervening with problems making them worse. He is trying to create a weak spot, we don't know why. Which is why I'm asking you to go. We have word that he will be traveling through the hidden stone village-"

"Why don't they take care of it."

"It's not that simple Hikari. Besides we need to keep our alliance strong. This act of kindness will go far. Your job is to gather intel, maybe even befriend the king, Whatever you need to do. Just make sure you figure out what he's plotting."

She nodded "when do I leave."

"As soon as possible."

"Am I going alone?"

He nodded, "don't worry, you're a master at talk no jutsu you'll be fine."

Later that day she left. It would take her a few days tops to get there. Her strategy was simple, wing it.

When she passed by villages she gained people's trust and asked them if they knew anything. Minato was right, she was good at talk no jutsu.

She learned where they would be at and how to find him. How old the king was. No one knew his name though. Which confused her but we don't judge in this house hold. He would have his guards undercover in the village so he wouldn't get a lot of attention. No one could tell her what he looked like exactly, everyone had a different version.

On her fourth day of traveling she arrived. She hid her forehead protector in her holster and wore a black cloak.

Hikari made her way to the Main Street and traveled down it. The king would be on this road talking to the merchants, trying to persuade them to stop business. Not as easy as she thought it would be. Tons of people were talking the the merchants. He was in his early twenties which narrowed it down. A man caught her eye, he wore expensive clothes and it was obvious he was trying to fit in. His hair was neat and it was blonde. He had an annoying snobby voice. Bingo.

She went to the same booth as him and looked around.

She whispered to him "this is pretty over priced don't you think."

"Indeed it is. As expected from a village like this."

She laughed "tell me about it"

He held out his hand "my names genki"

She took it "the names Hikari. I'm guessing you aren't from here."

He nodded "I'm guess you aren't either"

"Nope. I'm originally from the land of sound, but I'm nomadic now."

"Could I ask why?"

She laughed "guess the ninja life just didn't satisfy me. I get bored to fast." It wasn't exactly a lie

He smirked "we are the same then. How long will you be in town."

She shrugged "there's no telling. How about you?"

"Same here. What made you come to this village"

He was asking a lot of questions, not good. "I like to see how different the villages are from each other. I came here out of a sudden impulse."

That seemed to convince him.
"Well I'm glad you did."

They walked and talked. She noticed the people who seemed to trail them. His guards. They were good at hiding it. She would of missed it if one of them wasn't so sloppy.

"You seem like you're searching for something."

She smiled. "I guess you could say that. My mother would always tell me I have this inner indecisiveness that would be my downfall. Really I just haven't found something worth putting my all in. That's what I'm looking for. Are you looking for something?" She gave him a sweet smile. Hikari was good at this, too good.

"Yes actually. You could say I'm looking for something like you. I'm looking for a lot of things though, not all of them are here."

She nodded "where do you plan to look next?"

"I'll be traveling all over the fire nation."

"Well I hope you find it."

He looked at her, almost like he was searching for something in his face. "Even if I found out, it wouldn't be enough. Someone could give me the stars and I wouldn't be satisfied."

"Another thing we have in common. Tell me Genki, what would satisfy you."

He put his hands in his pockets " towers of gold would be too little. Someone could lay the heavens at my feet and it wouldn't be enough. I will never be satisfied. It will never be enough."

She was trying to get him to talk to much and stop up, but she wasn't having much luck.

"Would getting jack shit satisfy you"

He raised his eye brows.

"You seem to have a lot of people who bend their backs for you. Maybe it never satisfies you because that's all you get."

He shrugged "probably. Never thought about it like that. Are you free tonight."

"Mhm" she smiled

"Meet me on the main road tonight. I need to show you something"

—————-time skip

She saw him by the same booth as before.

"Hey genki" she waved with a big smile on her face.

"Hey"

"What did you wanna show me."

He held out his hand and she took it and followed him. People weren't trailing them this time. He brought her to a lookout where you could see all the rock formations.

"It's so beautiful here don't you think."

He nodded. "I know we met just today but I feel like I can trust you. You are different"

For some reason she felt guilty

"I need your help"

She smiled "alright, what do you need help with."

"I need help persuading some of the merchants here."

She raised an eyebrow "What for? That doesn't sound too hard why do you need my help."

"So I can see if I can trust you. I need you to help persuade them to take their business elsewhere."

"Elsewhere?"

He nodded "there is a rumor going around that the stone village has been taxing them more than everyone to pay off their debt. They have already lost a lot of business from it so it won't be that hard."

She held out her hand "Alright deal."

He shook it
