Ansley's POV

I am standing off the field with the rest of the cheerleaders, doing our cheer. My heart thumps to the beat of the percussion playing in the band.

"Let's go Mavericks, let's go!" I shout. Four girls lift me up, and I do a leg extension so that they are holding my one foot. Everyone cheers.

I am nervous for Wes. The game hasn't quite started yet, but this is championships!  We either win or lose.

"Give me an M!" I shout, starting up a new cheer. "M!" everyone from the area shouts. We spell it all out before Bri shouts, "What does that spell?!" "Mavericks!" everyone yells. "Louder!" Haily shouts. "Mavericks!" the audience screams.

"Go team go!" all of the cheerleaders yells, causing the crowd to go into a frenzy. The announcer says some things before both teams come running into their spots to start the game.

I start the song, as always.

"Olé olé olé!" I sing. Everyone sings in response. I can't help but smile. I look up in the stands at my family, all of them standing there. Grandad Horan is probably the happiest, he screams Wes' name.

"Let's go, number 2!" I yell for my brother as he gets the ball and kicks it down the field. He quickly passes it to Brad, who passes it back to him before he scores.

"Yeah!" I yell.

Everyone in the stands is going nuts. We are only five minutes into the game, and out team already has a point.

I look up in the stands. Everyone is looking at Wes, except Zain. I smile and wave, and he waves back a little

"Let's go let's go L-E-T-S G-O Lets *clap clap, clap clap* Go! *clap clap, clap clap*" we all cheer. The ball is on the other team. They almost score a goal, but luckily, a boy named Nathan, the goalie, stops it.

"Yeah Nathan!" Lilly shouts, and we all call in response.

Eventually, we reach half time, bother teams are tied, 3-3. We all walk out and get food. It is freezing outside, so I get myself a hot chocolate. I feel a tap in my shoulder, so I turn around.

"Grandad," I say, giving him a hug. "Ansley, you look beautiful," he says. "Thanks," I reply.

"So, you ready to scream as loud as you can for the last half?" he asks. I nod. "So ready," I reply.  "Niall, get your butt over hear!" I hear someone exclaim.

"I'll talk to you later," he says before jogging over to Grandma.  I drink some of my hot chocolate before I hear my name.

I turn around and jog over to Wes.

"Babe, listen," he says, "I don't need a panic or anything, but do you have my inhaler?"

"Yeah, do you need it?" I ask. He shakes his head. "No, I think I'm just at a shortage of breath, I ran a lot," he says. I nod. "Well, tell me if you need anything," I say.

"Can I have some of that?" he asks, pointing to my hot chocolate. I hand him It, and he drinks some. "Thanks Ansley," he says, before walking off to get into his position.

I walk out in front of the field with the rest of the cheerleaders. "We have to do the flip thing Ansley," Gia says, smiling. Gia, Bri, and I are the flyers of the squad.

The flip cheer is the one I hate. In practice, I get dropped a lot, and the drops can be dangerous.

I get in my spot and the other girls take my ankles. I am lifted into the air.

"Mavericks!" I cheer, "Maverick spirit!  We have that Maverick pride!  Go Mavericks!"

I am thrown into the air, where I flip twice before landing thankfully safely in the arms of the other girls. Everyone cheers, and I breathing heavily from the nervousness.

"It's okay," Jess whispers, putting a light arm around me, "You're okay, everything is absolutely..."

I watch as Wes kicks the ball toward the goal and falls to the ground. "Wes?" I breath, unsure if he is alright.

He doesn't get up. The ball makes it in the goal, but he is still down.

Oh my God.

He must have had an asthma attack!

Wes' POV

I am running down the field.

My friends and family are cheering me on, I smile at them as I continue. I can hardly breath, my lungs feel like they are being squished between bricks. This goal, I make this goal and we win.

I know this feeling is my lungs collapsing. I'm having an asthma attack.

I haven't had one since I was four, but all I remember was not being able to breath. And the feeling that I have now, like the air is just continuing to get thinner and no one can breath.

But I know it's only me.

I kick the ball, and everything goes black. I can't see. I fall over. I can hear the screams of people, but I'm unsure of where the screams are becoming from, our stands or the opponent's.

I feel a warmth around me and I choke, trying to fill my incapable lungs with air. That's all I get before everything disappears.
