Florence's POV
When Hadley said she had to I felt like she already stabbed me. I was so keen on her killing me in the beginning to save the planet and herself but now I know that she won't kill me because it would be like killing herself. She just doesn't want to do it because it would be a stab in the heart but now she is willing to kill me to save everyone she loves, even me. Now she's willing to kill me because she doesn't want the ones she loves to die also, even me. Who knows maybe the planet will heal me and let me live. Maybe even the star will heal me. I saved her life yesterday maybe she save mine tomorrow. If I die and stay dead then I know the planet nor her could heal me. She'll probably kill herself. "Florence, we need to get moving if we are going to make it there before night fall," Owen informed, "Jacob, help Hadley get up and moving.""I wouldn't advise her to try to walk for another five hours," Luke suggested, "it should be better if we carry her for another hour or two."
I looked over and saw Hadley standing up walking this way. "I think we should be fine," she said.
"How?" Luke breathed, "How is that even possible?"
"We are on a talking planet that can bring people back from the dead," I suggested, "anything can happen."
"That's true," Luke thought aloud, "maybe the planet decided to heal her faster. Medical Science isn't really reliable since the planet talked to us."
Forest's POV
I don't know when or why Hadley decided to finally kill Florence. Whatever caused her to change her mind was probably a good thing. Even though she had to kill someone she loves every much. I know I couldn't kill Lizzy if it was to save the planet and everyone on it. I love Lizzy to much to have to kill her. Hadley is the bravest person I will probably ever meet. She is going to kill Florence to save everyone else. It's going to hurt her more than dying would. She has to kill the person she loves and more than likely have to live with the guilt of killing him.Hadley's POV
I kept thinking over the way I killed Florence in the night terror weeks ago. I just stab him in the stomach and I'm sorry. I didn't even stay in the night terror to see what the Jewel looked like. If I would've stayed I would've at least known what I was getting out of killing Florence. I don't care I just know getting the jewel means saving the planet and everyone on it. "Hadley, can I have a canteen," Owen hollered, "make sure it's empty."I threw an empty canteen at Owen and climbed a tree. At the top of the tree I looked out and saw the pillars. They were miles away still. I have to kill Florence in a few days, I thought, I hope the planet will bring him back to life though. Even if it takes a month I'll still be happy. Just as as long as he comes back. It's going to hurt a lot to kill him. I know that I won't be seeing Gerdad and his tribe for a while. He thinks he was killed me but he hasn't and never will. If he plans to kill me he die try trying. I won't die or bow down to him ever. He can't control me along with anyone else. If they try they will fail every time. I'm done with people trying to control me. Gerdad has tried once and he failed. Everyone has failed. No one can control me, I am a free spirit. "Hadley, come down to here we need to get moving," Owen yelled, "we'll make camp in about five hours."
It took us three days to get to the stone pillars. By the time we got there the tribe was back there. "We're going to have to a point new leaders," Owen informed us, "Who knows how long it's going to take us to replace the jewel."
"We can let Evony do it," I suggested, "it should work and she knows most of them anyways."
"That'll work," Luke responded.
"EVONY!!!!" I yelled. She came running out of the crowd. She looked super confused though. Like she was in trouble or something. I don't know why though. "Do you mind choosing new people for the leadership roles?"
"Sure, I can do that," she replied, "but why?"
"Because we're going to have to return the jewel," Jacob answered, "and we need someone in the leadership roles."
"Also you're gonna take my position," Owen added.
"Okay, I guess that'll work," Evony replied.
Lizzy's POV
Evony enrolled Harper, Roselen, Holen, Fallon, and Alarik. I know they all have a specialty close to ours to help out. They all can help the tribe save alive. I've seen how they've helped others stay alive. I just hope they can do it indefinitely. "Owen, we aren't coming back are we," I questioned."Lizzy, no," Owen replied, "there's no point. Evony, Harper, Holen, Roselen, Fallon, and Alarik can run the tribe better than any of us can. We're just gonna leave."
I had a feeling he was gonna try and do it, but he will go through with it. He just wanted to create the tribe he didn't want to stay and run it. He doesn't have the spirit to stay still and run something. He likes to be free and do what he wants. Just like you' and Hadley. "Owen, Hadley can't kill Florence for another four days," I whispered, "her birthday is in three."
"Wait that means yours is today," Owen exclaimed, "I'm so sorry I forgot."
"With what's going on I don't blame you."
"Hads, can we wait another four days to kill Florence," Owen asked.
"Sure," Hadley replied, "but why?"
"Your birthday is in three days," Owen explained, "if we wait until then at least you'll get to spend a happy day with him before you kill him."
"Okay," Hadley answered.
THREE DAYS LATER
Hadley wasn't very excited about her birthday but I guess that is to be assumed that she is killing Florence tomorrow. "Hadley, happy birthday," Florence told Hadley."Thanks," she mumbled.
She really isn't very enthusiastic about her birthday. She was probably still questioning if she was actually going through with it. She knew she was going to end up killing him anyways.
Hadley's POV
I was going to kill Florence no matter what I thought and it was going to be after my birthday. I don't think I'll be able to do it tomorrow. "Florence," I asked, "can I kill you tonight out by the shortest pillar?""Hadley, are you sure?" he asked.
"Yes," I whispered, "I have to."
I might have just ruined my birthday by killing Florence but I have to. Even if I don't want to. I might be a free spirit but I know when I need to do things I don't want to do. I have to do this to save everyone.
The day went by quicker than I hoped but I can't control anything. When everyone else was asleep I swam out to the short pillar. When I got there Florence was already out there. He had a knife in his hand already and he handed it to me. "Are you sure about this?" he asked me.
"As sure as I'll ever be," I replied putting the knife into his stomach, "I'm sorry."
I pulled the knife out and started crying. I killed him. I killed Florence. The Jewel of Marnik started to float out of the water. With it floating out of the water the star started pulling from neck. The pouch broke free and went into the jewel. The planet sucked me and Florence in and put us at the edge of the water. "Hadley, you've full filled your duty of getting the jewel," the star yelled, "now you must return it to its rightful place in the center of the planet. You'll be able to heal Florence using the jewel and he'll live but you must heal him within in a week from now. Otherwise he'll be dead forever. You've done what many before you failed to do. You are the rightful heir to this planet. Good Luck on your journey to replace the jewel. You'll be able to call upon me anytime I'm needed to assist you and your friends."
The star combined with the jewel and came floating towards me. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It shined every single color and was the perfect size to fit in my pouch. I will return the jewel an save Florence. I'll also figure out what the star meant by rightful heir to the planet. It is my destiny.
