Dark Skies, Stary Eyes

I sat outside. The Sun was begining to set. The rest of the Companions were off doing who-knows-what.  I was left with Snowy and Arlilo. Only because Vilkas had to open his mouth, "I don't want to risk more lives for that blasted girl! She could be in Sovngarde and I'd be glad! She's a waste of time if you ask me. A broken soul that nobody can fix."

He thought I didn't hear him. After Kodlak's death he had been made Hadbringer. He acted like a leader if you ask me.

It was almost dark by the time everyone got back. Ria had made venison stew for everyone. I sat in the corner and ate. I didn't like the judgemental eyes of Vilkas as I ate. I listened to the useless rambling of the others as I quietly finished my food. Snowy and Arlilo were at my side. I had finished early and I didn't get a lot, so I placed my bowl on the table and walked to my room. Arlilo walked to the others, as Snowy with her swollen belly followed me into my room.

It had been almost 6 weeks since I saw Snowy sneak off. But, I don't know how long she had been sneaking off. She's due any day now.

I sat down carefully on my bed and Snowy got up with me. She laid down with a sigh. "You deserve that. A long sigh. Yeah, I know how you feel," I say with a giggle. "Don't look at me like that... So... Who is he? Can I name him?" I ask hopefully. "How about..... Kali?" Snowy tilted her head. "No... Freki?" She looked away. "Maybe... Kohana?" She looked at me before glancing away. "Hmm... Vígolfr?" I suggest hopefully. She keeps staring at the floor. "What about....... Lupin? No, to simple." I tell myself. "This is hard..." I trail off. Suddenly a name comes to mind. "Oooh! I got it! Ozul!" Snowy gave me a look and laid her head down.

"Ozul it is!" I say with a smile. I pet her head and her tail wags. "Do you miss him? I'm sorry, but I don't want to let you outside and get hurt... Or get the puppies hurt. Wolf hunting is allowed in these woods..." I look at her face. Her eyes look pained. "Here, tomorrow, I'll take you in the woods to see him." He looks at me hopefully. "I will make sure you get the spend time with him and that's final!" I think to myself for a minute.

I release a sigh before starting, "I talk to this wolf more than I do to anyone else... Can you understand me? I know you aren't a werewolf but the others must have taught you some form of understanding me... Right? Nod if I'm correct."

Snowy slowly dips her head. I hug her neck and her tail wags. "I can finaly talk to my bestie!" I giggle. She begins to pant and I sit back. "You are really out of shape girl." I giggle again and lay back down.

"Get some sleep." I say and pat her belly. She goes to the foot of my bed and sleeps. After Snowy fell asleep I went to see what the others were doing. A few have gone to bed but Farkas, Skjor, Vilkas, and Aela were up. Arlilo came to greet me. "Hey boy..." I say as I pet him. He wags his drooping tail. I glance at the scar on his back.

He walked off and I headed for the back door. Aela dipped her head when she saw me and I waved. I turned around and opened the door. The hard wood pushed back into place as I let it go.

The cold of night came to me in a quick rush, kissing my cheeks and nose. I shivered. I had my cloack on over a soft tunic and pants. I pulled my cloack over me more, trying to keep warm.

I heard the door creak and didn't care to look back. Probably just Aela letting 'Lilo out. I heard pawsteps as well as heavy footsteps. I turned my attention to my side at which Arlilo stood, in all his glory. "Tomorrow we're going to raid a Silver Hand camp that has been terrorizing a small pack of werewolves." An all to familiar gruff voice said.

"Okay, Farkas." Was all I could say. Farkas walked to my side. I was leaning on a ledge overlooking the cliff. Farkas put a hand on my arm and trailed it down to intertwine his fingers with mine. I smiled.

I looked over at him. My other hand instinctively went up to his face. I cupped his cheek and turned his face to my own. I planted a kiss on his lips before walking to the door. "Goodnight... Love you," I said. "I love you too..." Was all I heard as I stepped inside. I let the warn air engulf me before walking to my room.
