Hina burst into tears. Presumably the death of two classmates was too hard for her to handle.

She clutched at Hifumi's corpse, tears falling from her eyes. A few of those tears fell on Hifumi's cheeks. I was about to turn away from the scene and start investigating when the impossible happened.

Hifumi reached a hand a few inches into the air. He's not dead...?

"Ng...Where...am I? Cold...so cold...Is...winter coming?"

"H-Hifumi! Wake up!" He *is* awake. If he wasn't, he wouldn't be speaking.

"Hifumi, you're going to die. Sorry about that. All you can do now is tell us who killed you," I said.

"Ahh...That's right...I remember now...Hope's Peak..."

"Come on! You gotta wake up!"

"I remember...everything..."

"The culprit?" I prompted.

"Ahh...the light...It's...reaching out...to me...Like...the tail...of a comet..."

"Hey Hifumi! Who was it?! Who attacked you?! Who tried to kill you?!"

"Who...killed me...? That's right...I remember...their name...Y...Yasu...hi...ro..." His hand fell to the ground and his eyes shut for the final time.

"This isn't some stereotypical fantasy world. Tears can't restore a person's vitality."

"You have no tears, do you? No blood in your veins, no calcium in your bones. At least you have your meat..." Celeste said to Byakuya.

"You're just angry," the blond replied. "Going out of his way to return, just to leave us with those unnecessary dying words. Now this game has become exceedingly boring."

"He said...Yasuhiro, right?"

"Yasuhiro Hagakure...That is the only person he could have been referring to."

"And with that, the case is solved." No. There's still to may things that don't make sense if Hiro is the culprit. Hifumi refers to people with their last name, not their first name. And if he just used the first name to male sure we understood the message, he would have used 'Hiro'. Is it possible that someone here-and by that I mean Celeste and her obviously fake name-is called Yasuhiro? Not to mention, the culprit is supposed to be wearing that stupid robot suit. So how could Hifumi know the identity of his attacker?

"If it's true, I can't forgive him...No way can I ever forgive him! To kill two of our friends...!"

"I don't understand, Hina. You didn't react like this at the other murders. Sayaka's death was the first dead body you've ever seen, right? And Chihiro's death came with the threat of a serial killer. So why is this case so special?" I asked.

"How can you say that...?! Hifumi...and Taka...They're dead...!" Yes, I can see that. That's not what I'm asking. But I suppose trying to get information out of a hysterical teenager is impossible.

"Anyway, it's about time we tracked down the culprit in our little life-or-death game here. Although...this time it's not all that life-or-death. The trial will conclude without much trouble."

"Yes, it does look that way."

The conversation ended, and the investigation began. I scanned the information in the Monokuma File.

The victims were Hifumi Yamada and Kiyotaka Ishimaru. The cause of death for each was a blow to the head. It is thought that they were killed with a similar weapon.
