I returned to my room and stood there for a while, thinking. We had been inside Hope's Peak for a while now, and I'd not learned much about our situation. I should probably spend the small amount of free time we would have between now and when Monokuma announced the next motive investigating.

My doorbell rang, and I went to open it. Taka was there.

"Ryousuke! Your lack of attendance is unacceptable!" Lack of attendance...we were supposed to meet in the dining hall, weren't we..?

"Sorry, I forgot." I walked passed Taka, ignoring his protests about how you were supposed to attend every little thing someone else organized even if it was a complete waste of time. Well, that wasn't what he said, but that's definitely what I heard.

When I arrived Makoto was looking somewhat uncomfortable. Presumably people had brought up Sayaka, and what Monokuma had said about getting rid of the bodies. Given the fact that Junko's body was missing and there were no bloodstains or spears in the gym, I could testify that Monokuma was surprisingly skilled in corpse disposal.

"If we all work together, I'm sure we'll find a way out of here!" Hina claimed. "So everyone just...try and cheer up and get back on track!"

"Is that honestly supposed to make us feel better?"

"Huh?"

"We were already 'working together' and yet someone was still murdered.Anyone could betray us at this point. Now that it's happened once, it's a matter of when, not if, the next one takes place," Byakuya said.

"Y-Yeah, because Sayaka made the first move..." Toko agreed.

"B-But...if we work together against the mastermind, nobody'll have a reason to do anything like that!"

"Keep telling yourself that. I'll be over here in the real world. Working together, fighting a common enemy...like it or not, it's not that simple," Byakuya continued, refusing to shut up.

Well, yeah. That's the way the world works.

"...What do you mean?" Hifumi asked.

"The mastermind seems to be much more powerful than we ever suspected. They took over Hope's Peak, which was supposed to be well defended, then modified it to fit their desire. They created Monokuma, which seems to be incredibly advanced, and they're providing for our every need. And the cherry on top is the execution we witnessed. Everything has been planned down to the last excruciating detail. This is not the work of your everyday psychopath. Defying them may be too great of a risk..." Celeste said.

"Taking over Hope's Peak wouldn't be an overly difficult task. With the right number of people and weapons...if you got some of the students onto your side it would be easy. But for someone to manage that and not let anyone find out would be highly improbable. I'd say there's a 2-no, 1.5% chance that someone could manage that. That percentage is assuming that our mastermind has an incredibly high IQ and near limitless resources," I added my own analysis.

"Then...what are we supposed to do?" Sakura asked.

"Anyone who truly does want to escape...will just have to follow the rules," Byakuya said.

Great, the Prick is talking again...

"In which case, the only option is to deceive those around you and win the game."

"N-No..." Chihiro said.

"No what?"

"I don't want to live...if it means killing someone else to do it. I don't want to kill anyone else...!"
