This story's timeline isn't entirely accurate given How to Train Your Dragon took place at around 1000 AC, Brave took place at around 1100 AC, and Tangled took place at around 1780 AC. But for the sake of the story (and since it's a fantasy universe), I am pushing all of them together into the same year. Some cultures tend to be more advanced than others anyway, but I will keep the general innovations similar everywhere.
Because of things that happen early on in the timeline, Berk is in a different state, being combined with several other neighboring clans to strengthen their military against opposing clans and dragons. Because of this, the events of the first How to Train Your Dragon film have not taken place despite Hiccup being 17/18. Which means Hiccup has also lived in a more hostile environment and was forced to toughen up a bit when he got older, making him capable of killing dragons when they threatened his loved ones, because of his father's influence and certain circumstances, and has gained a few scars on the way. But only as a last resort! So fear not! He is still the same sassy, clumsy, scrawny, sarcastic, adorable, and lovable cinnamon roll he always has been!
