Chapter 21: Reunion

Y/N's POV

Professor Port (on screen):  "And now without any ado, our first match, Emerald and Mercury of Haven vs. Coco and Yatsuhashi of Beacon!"

Y/N:  "Hey Mom.  It's been a while, huh?"

Summer:  "It's really you..."

You start to walk up to her with tears in your eyes, but stop right in front of her.

Y/N:  "Mom...  I'm so sorry..."

You start full on crying.  You get on your knees and start clinging to her legs.

Y/N:  "I'm sorry for running away!  I'm sorry for leaving you guys alone!  I'm sorry for not telling you!  I'm sorry!"

To your surprise, she kneels down and wraps her arms around you.

Summer:  "Shh shh, it's okay...  We're finally together again."  she says, also crying.

Y/N:  "I know I have no right to ask for your forgiveness, but I'm so so sorry..."

Summer:  "Shhhhh... Y/N, it's okay.  I know why you ran."  This got you surprised.  "Qrow told me he suspected Tai of beating you.  Is this true?"

You hang your head, not speaking a word.

Summer:  "Don't worry.  Mommy will take care of this."

You sniff and say something through your tears.

Y/N:  "...no."

Summer:  "What did you say sweetie?"

Y/N:  "I said no.  I'm going to face the bastard myself.  There's no need for you to see him Mom."

Summer:  "But Y/N, I-"

Y/N:  "Mom!  I'm not a little kid anymore.  I'm strong now.  I can protect you.  All of you.  Just like you wanted me to.  I'll explain later, but there's something I have to do first."

Summer:  "What's that?"

Y/N:  "I need to watch this match so I can learn."

Summer is confused why Y/N is choosing the match over their reunion, but figures it must be important.

Summer:  "Then let's watch it together." She says smiling.

You both wipe your faces and she takes your hand in hers.  You turn to the arena and see the match had been going on for a while. 

Coco:  "Watch out, she's in the trees."

Coco seems to be talking to someone, but there's no one there, followed by an announcement.

Professor Port:  "Oh, and with that final blow, Yatsuhashi is eliminated!"

Y/N:  "Who is she talking to?"

Coco looks around, but Emerald comes up behind her and knocks her out.

Y/N:  "Yatsuhashi and Coco taken down so easily?  How?"

Summer:  "Are they friends of yours?"

Y/N:  "Yeah, and the reason I wanted to watch the match was to watch their opponents.  They're up to something.  I just don't know what."

Summer:  "We'll figure it out.  Don't worry." she says, nuzzling into your chest.

Weiss's POV

Weiss and Winter are having tea together somewhere on campus.

Weiss:  "You're... leaving?"

Winter:  "Yes.  I was merely needed to oversee the transport of additional units to Vale.  Our last shipment was lost to an ambush.  I believe you had a run-in with its cargo, actually.  It's fortunate those Paladins were still in the prototype stage, otherwise your team may not have fared so well."  She take's Weiss's hand.  "Weiss, you've done... well... out here on your own.  You should proud."  This causes Weiss to perk up.  "I'll be honest, it was quite amusing seeing father's face the day you left for Beacon."
