Chapter 53: Alone Together

(A/N The way the canon did the RWBY timeline is really weird, but I can understand why they did it. For reference, on Blake's side, the beginning of Volume 5 was about two months before the attack on Beacon. However, on Ruby and the others' side, I think it was around two weeks to a month. I'm pretty sure reason for this was to give time to train people on Menagerie. For this, however, since this is chapter is based on Volume 5, Episode 8, about a month before (in Blake's POV), it's about the same in the story. For Y/N's, it's about a week before. Sorry for any confusion!)

Y/N's POV

It's dawn. You're practicing your swordsmanship, even now. Foregoing sleep, you decided it was best to improve yourself as much as you can before the battle. Of course, that meant that you had to sneak out of everyone's arms. The girls found a large futon in the attic of the house yesterday and insisted that you sleep in it so that they could sleep with you after so long. Since the regular bed's so small and can only fit three people max, this was their solution. As you're training yourself, you take a moment to breathe and you watch the birds fly, almost as if they didn't have a care in the world.

Y/N (thoughts): 'Today's a good day.' You think as you get back into your battle stance.

Yang: "You're up early."

Yang walks up and hugs you from behind, rubbing her head on your back. You put your sword back into your arm and decide that was enough training for right now, at least. You peel her arms off your stomach, taking her hands in yours, and turn around. She takes the initiative and puckers her lips, kissing you. You kiss her back for a few seconds and when you're done, keep on smiling.

Y/N: "You know, it's times like this that make me glad to be alive."

Yang: "Heh, yeah. Whenever you kiss me, I feel like the happiest girl in the world."

The two of you sit down of the ground. However, in a quick flash, she plops your head down onto her thighs, giving you the elusive thigh pillow that men everywhere have dreamed of.

Y/N: "So what are you doing up?"

Yang: "Can't fall back asleep."

She plays with your hair while you're talking. Her own beautiful blonde hair is something not to be played with lightly. That is, if you want to keep your testicles, even if you were the only man allowed to touch it.

Y/N: "Yeah, me neither. Well, and the fact that I still need to get stronger."

Ruby: "You're already really strong though." says Ruby, who runs to meet both of you. "Sis! I thought we agreed to take turns doing that!"

Yang: "All's fair in love and war Ruby."

Ruby: "Yeah well... You could at least tell me when you plan to do it..."

Y/N: "*chuckle* Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of doing it first?"

Ruby: "Yeah... Why are you out here?"

Y/N: "Couldn't sleep. I took that as a sign to come out here and train."

Weiss: "Well, fortunately..." Weiss now joins you. "Coffee exists."

She's holding a tray of four coffee mugs, as if she knew the three of you would be out here. She hands one first to Yang and then to Ruby.

Weiss: "Don't worry, I put in blasphemous amounts of cream and sugar just for you." she says to Ruby.

Ruby: "Aww, yeah!"

Y/N: "Nice Weiss strikes again I see."

Weiss takes your mug and holds it over you.
