They all took the seats and listened to Miu's instructions. He eyed Gonta as he looked at his hands in confusion and then finally settling on his left hand. There was no point in correcting this, he had told Kokichi specifically to not talk to Gonta while in the program to prevent anything unwanted from occurring. He glanced over at Kokichi who gave him a little nod. He smiled slightly and pulled on his headset as Miu had instructed. He had decided the best way to confront Miu, was inside the program and convince her using 'manipulation' as Kokichi had put it. There was a whirlwind of code and then it all stopped. He blinked against the bright light and saw his classmates crowded around the room examining themselves and the surroundings. Tsumugi and Himiko were examining a framed map on the wall And Kiibo was playing with his now extremely pixelated hands, a perplexed look on his face.

"Hah! You look funny Shuuichi!" He felt something poke him on the side of the head. He smiled and looked to see a very blocky looking Kokichi grinning at him.
"You don't look to great either," Kokichi cocked his giant head to the side, making him look rather comical,
"Never said you looked bad~" he felt a warm wave wash over him with Kokichi's words, "Wow! I didn't know the Avatars could turn that red!" Shuuichi staggered back, it was one of those times that he wished he still had his hat with him. So he could pretend he wasn't there, "Just kidding! But you are kinda pink heheh."

Just then Miu's sprite appeared after him in a sparkle of pixels and she looked up at them looking triumphant,
"I know, I know, yes I'm a genius, and no I will not be handing out autographs." Kokichi made a bored groan and Miu shot him an annoyed look, "anyway!..." Shuuichi didn't bother listening to anything else she had to say, everything Miu was saying now was a well fabricated lie. The map was a lie, the secret was a lie. All to commit a murder right under their noses.

Once Miu had finished talking, he walked with the group to the river where they placed a makeshift bridge -a wooden sign- and crossed it. He hadn't noticed this before, but Miu was oddly fiddly with her pocket. He looked away, trying not to prompt any of the others to notice this odd phenomenon. Once they had sufficiently scoped out the church half of the world they crossed back over in their smaller group to search the house. As soon as they had crossed, as expected, Miu lifted the sign from its spot and threw it into the river. There were some yells and gasps from his friends, that quickly died out as Miu scurried away back to the Church. It was extremely lucky that Miu always behaved like this or her behaviour right now would have outed her as very suspicious.

They all said their goodbyes in the hallway as they went their separate ways in search of the 'secret'. He watched them leave until it was just him an Kokichi that were left standing there.
"I'll see you soon, just remember what to do if it's Miu that meets you up there instead of me. But that won't happen, I'll make sure I don't fail this time." He was talking to both Kokichi and himself. He needed to believe he would succeed, he needed to, especially this time.
"If everything does turn out for the worse..." Kokichi's voice was low, and a little strained. Shuuichi turned back around to face him, but Kokichi wasn't facing him. "...If something goes extremely wrong, and if I'm right... find me again... I'll always believe you."

Shuuichi stared at the boy's back in confusion. What did he mean 'find him again'? 'I'll always believe you'?
"What are you..." Kokichi span around, a large grin on his face. Although there was something unnatural about it, something false.
"Just thinking out loud! Nothing too important." Shuuichi stood, stunned. Whatever Kokichi had just said wasn't something unimportant. He could feel it. So why was he playing it off as though it was nothing? "You better go, Miu will be coming through the barrier soon. You don't want to miss her. See you soon, hopefully..." the last word was mumbled.

With a last glance at Shuuichi he walked off to 'investigate' the part of the house he was meant to be searching. Shuuichi watched him go, wanting more than anything to run after him, to find out what he was talking about, but if he wanted to have any chance of stopping Miu he had to go now. He ran outside and into the snow, making sure he had a good view of the barrier. Tsumugi had seen Miu the first time he was here through the window, so that was a good place to stay as he knew for sure Miu took that route. He didn't have to wait too long before Miu's blocky figure peered through the wall and fully emerged holding a phone and, a hammer. He gulped and emerged from his hiding spot and hitching a surprised look on his face. His acting skills were really going to be tested.

"Oh! Miu, I didn't expect to see you here!" Miu shrieked and hid the hammer behind her back quickly.
"S-sshuichi?! What a-are you doing h-here?" Her voice shook, but she tried to keep her composure- and in his opinion, failing at it.
"Oh me? I was checking the forest for the secret, and then I just happened to bump into you!" He smiled broadly, "which is pretty funny because I remember you getting trapped over the other side of the world!" He raised an eyebrow at her, trying his hardest to keep his facade up. "I would have originally thought you must have just used something from the other side to get across, buuutt seeing you emerge from a wall that is supposed to be the edge is rather interesting." Miu froze, she didn't even blink.

Shuuichi approached her and grabbed the hammer from behind her back, throwing it into a snow mound behind him. Letting it sink as the snow was pushed on top of it. Miu broke out of her trance and looked him straight in the eye waveringly.
"So you know?..." her eyes weren't the only part of her that conveyed fear. Her hands were shaking terribly and it almost made him pity her. Just keep up the act, just act like Kokichi. Manipulate her.
"Oh i've known from the very beginning, every detail of your plan, I've known since the moment I first stepped into the killing game. I know you met with Kokichi to lure him to the roof, I know how you used the phone to make everyone believe Kaito was the culprit, how you programmed Kokichi's avatar to stop when you touched him, the planted poison, the secret of this world. I. Know. Everything." He sneered.

Miu looked like she was going to throw up and Shuuichi felt the same. Acting like this wasn't in his character at all. He felt horrible being like this to Miu, but this would benefit everyone, and Kokichi would be safe. "So that in mind, I recommend you give up this little murder plan now while you still have the chance, you won't stand a chance in the class trial, I am the Ultimate detective you know, they'll believe me." He finished and waited. Miu took a deep breath and opened her mouth. He wasn't sure whether she was going to say something or actually throw up judging by the screwed up look on her face.
"We can't live in peace with Kokichi around, you can tell he's scheming something just by looking at him, I was doing this for everyone's good."

Shuuichi frowned, the mask melting away.
"Kokichi is..." he began, trying to phrase what he was going to say as best he could, "he can be pretty cruel and inconsiderate at times, and more than often it's directed at you and I'm extremely sorry about that," His voice shook, trying to keep it together, "but inside, he's just as scared as all of us, he hates this killing game like we all do and he genuinely cares about every single one of you." He paused and then continued, "He also means a lot to me and I don't know what I'd do if he was gone." He didn't want to think about that. If Kokichi were to die. His partner, his companion in all of this. "So please, don't kill him, he's really not what you think."

Miu watched him in silence, her legs giving way.

Kokichi's POV

His heart was beating out of his chest. Did he really mean that. He felt like his face was on fire, no one had ever said something like that about him. And Shuuichi has said it with so much passion.
"I don't know what I'd do without you either..." he mumbled, "and that's why it's going to be so hard to leave you..."
"So please, don't kill him, he's really not what you think." His life rested on Miu's next words, but they never came. Risking it, he peeked over the balcony of the roof and saw Miu on the ground, looking utterly distressed. He smiled sadly, this was the first murder they had prevented, but another was going to occur without them doing anything to stop it.

It was inevitable, it was always going to end like this, just as it had been really getting started. He heard footsteps coming up the stairway and the door burst open a figure framed in the doorway completely out of breath.
